That is sad to hear Bob. I bought the same car about a year ago and right out of the box it was flawless. My only mod was sanding the rear wheels and using the PGT 'tapered' rear wheels. I feared this would cause lower traction but to my surprise she beats my (Scaley) Camero.
my fronts are about level, so it could indeed be some issue with the front tires. I will check mine to be sure. It really has been one of the best out of box cars I have in the Scaley world.

Bob I have my Challenger running in the Trans Am Proxy. I did the modifications as found in the HRW Thread

The car currently sits in 10th place out of 21 cars. My Scaly Camaro is in 11th. Now there are 2 SCX Cudas in the top 5. 1 is in 1st place the other in 5th with Scaley Camaros in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. There is another Scaley Challenger in 7th place. I think is rides on a brass chassis. I was told my car might have been a better runner if I had used different body mount screws. But I think you will definitely need to free up the body by cutting the valence.

Checked you Dodge and it has the mustang size tires on the front, sits ok.

Hope the pictures tell the story. Car on left is stock and sits with tires off the setup block. Car on right was run in Pony Car Wars Proxy. File down front mounting post. Trim sides of chassis. Notice the difference in the stance. This should get your Challenger close to the Camaros.

I swapped out the front tires with those from one of my Camaros and it improved a bunch.

Another thing I often do with Scaley cars is to snip off the piece of baid that folds back towards the front and straighten the top piece too so they both face the back of the car. While the cars going forward the braid can't come out and it allows the front to sit a bit lower and the guide a tad bit deeper.

I do know this car can be made to run sweet
one of my club members won the muscle car class at the 2015 nationals with one
he had it doing 2 tenths of a second quicker than my 70 camaro which is a very fast car
my club rules for muscle car class is open so we take them to the extreme
well some of as do
you would be very surprised at how fast the scaly muscle can be made to go
mine has a 25k nsr with nsr gears lightened slot-it mag F1 rims on the rear with nsr ultragrip tires that have been treated
pancake type lexan interior and lexan widows, lightened body
the front rims are stock plastic that have also been lightened
ninco prorace guide ballrace bearing bushes no magnets and little bit of lead for balance and stop it from wheel standing clean out of the slot on take off

I bought a Scaley T/A tyre pack and the 2 front tyres were 2 different sizes and I think 1 might have been Escort size so it doesn't surprise me if yours were too small.

Dave your articles are fantastic. The pink Challenger will see those modifications before it goes back out. Bob good to know a tire swap has your car moving as expected. Hope to get more speed out of my 77 when it get back.
