The second resin body from John (munter) showed up in the mail today. Another great new roadster; the OSCA MT-4. Here are pics of the two bodies that I received:

Now I have no excuses; I have to start working on the chassis............

Both the MT-4 and the Porsche 550 coupe are small bodies; I'm thinking, perhaps, 14mm wheels................... We'll see. I'm not looking for performance from these cars.............(did he really say that?)............. :lol: I'm just interested in building a couple models of cars that I've always admired.

They look good but in the last pic the one on the right looks somewhat curved in on the right side.
Being so light weight that may have happened in transit...please check and try the hot water method to straighten of necessary.

I think this is the chassis I have settled on for the Porsche 550.

This is an old Cox Superscale brass pan with a credit card insert. It has a BRM guide flag and rear bearings. It is a very stable platform Wheels are BWA with Urethane tires. I will have to wait until the body shows up to see if these wheels are staying or if I have to go to something smaller. Right now there is a Mabachi FF030 can motor in it.

That is a cool looking chassis, Dan, and it is good that the picture is on a grid sheet. I have a 550 in front of me and the body is 1.95" wide at the wheel wells. I believe my resin body is a pop of the Ninco, so it should be the same as your body. The pan may need a bit of trimming along the sides, and the front wheels look a bit wide, but it seems close to me, and playing with different wheels/tires may be all that is needed.

On the topic of motors. My experience is that 030 motors may have higher RPM than 050s, but they have much less torque, and need to be geared quite differently. I am not the boss of this proxy, err fun run, but I think if anyone wants to try to compete with the big boys with a pint sized motor, then they should be given Garage 56, like that pit at LeMans where something experimental can be tried.

Well maybe it can be run as a demo. These FF030 motors perform pretty well and you have lots of room for an interior for scale racing. It may be a sanctioned option in the future. As you mention not a lot of torque so the braking suffers from this as well, but it still results in a fun car to drive. Again the rules are the rules and I don't want anything special done to allow this car to compete for points. However it would be nice to get some feedback on chassis and motor combo if I do go with this.

My plan is to race it against the stock Ninco at home and just see where it is in comparison. My thought is if it runs times close to the stock Ninco then maybe in the future this class of motor will make it to the list of acceptable options for the next races.

I am sure the intent is to have cars with equal power, that are not drawing excessive amps. I think this motor and gear combo gets it in the same ballpark, but don't really know until it competes against others.

So if the car shows up with this motor, then just consider it a Demo, and run it for fun.

As these chassis are inexpensive to build I laid up another one as I look for something to send in under the Ninco 550 Porsche. This is a full Gift card chassis in 132 scale. I would really enjoy some feedback from people who drive this thing in the PanAmerican Proxy. If the reviews are OK, I may try and host a Gift Card Chassis Proxy one day if people have an enjoyable experience with it.

This chassis has an N class motor and is being used under a 132 Chaparral I had laying around. The N Class is one of those 30K motors that are a little too hot for the proxy. This motor will lift the guide out of the slot on accleration. The chassis weights in at less then 30 grams. I may install a round brass weight over the guide pin to help keep the guide planted.

I am hoping people are pleasantly surprised to find out what can be built from a credit card and some Lego Blocks.

An FC-130 AW sounds interesting. If you go that route and find that it works with your chassis, then sub out the stock Ninco motor for an H&R Jack Rabbit and you'll likely be smiling all the way to the finish line................!
