Really a great car, and decidedly more "American" than any foreign outfit has done so far. They clearly paid attention this time, which makes me like Carrera more than ever. Those oddball wheels (same as earlier models), are easy to deal with, and with the near perfect proportions, it really is a beauty. I want one for sure. Keep them coming, Carrera! There must be thousands of examples to do models of.

I'm with ya SD....mine shipped today and I cant wait to put it with the other 2 57s....I have the 16 also and the red and white one . I wish I would have grabbed the white and black one when they came out. I did take a tip from the Boss at HRW and took the front tires down with the Razor to raise them a hair off of the track and shaved the humps off of the 4 body posts to lower the body on the chassis which made a huge difference on the road course.

I have to admit, not a huge fan of the livery, but it looks cool enough and since I missed out on the other racers, I'll have to pick this one up!

Hey Dave, did you build that Royal Typewriter grill (unbelievable amount of fussy welding)? I can't believe I remember what we called that. Before that, there was the bullet grill, and the Dego(sp?) grill. Never understood the latter, but I sure saw a lot of the bullet grills in my part of the world.

So, how do I know Larry Watson? A buddy of my dad's gave me hundreds of Rod & Custom, etc magazines as a kid. I finally donated them to some other gearheads when I got married and had no room for them in a 1 bedroom appartment. Saw lots of his stuff.

This is a cool review Dave! Well I agree about this car. This design was the suggestion by our (German) design director! He found a real car online that had this deco and we went with it. I'm very happy to have another '57 to race. This mold won't be going away any time soon guys don't worry! ;)

I found some '57 racing Chevys with 6 bolt wheels when I looked on Google images

So it was based on this one photo. We were discussing what new '57 we could do and the design director said he liked this one. It was such a different looking design than all the previous cars so i figured "what the heck" because it would really stand out!
