Sprite Proxy Race 2018 - Tracks

To help entrants make decisions about chassis design and gear ratio, we'll post the track layouts here.

I'll start off with Mike's YVR, one of the newer GVSCC tracks.









It's a pretty technical layout with lots of tight and sweeping corners balanced with a 14 foot straightaway. Average lane length is 79 feet over a 10' x 20' flat foot print.






That's Keith (RetroRacer 44) who recently passed away and myself giving the track a work out.

It's a challenging track as there's less distinct visual reference points. Individual power sources set at 10 volts helps driveability.

I'm sure you've noticed, there's an aircraft theme going on here. There are probably close to a hundred 1:72 scale planes literally hanging from a thread and pin. Mike's a retired commercial pilot and passionate about air transport history. He's always got an interesting story about some plane and point in time.

I love it! A north-south R/W, but I don't see any ILS equipment or threshold lighting so I guess its VFR only...

We did some testing of the new track tonight, Murray got down to a 6.9
The scenery will be finished in time for the proxy

Well, isn't that just a video hoot of Luf's newly revised Targa Burnaby being rubbered in this evening! I recognize the big sweeping curves at the top and in front of the driver stations but everything else looks new. Definitely faster than before. Luf says middle lane measured in around 81 feet so that's a decent run.

Can hardly wait to run the Sprites on this new version of Targa Burnaby.

Luf uses Trackmate and pretty much everyone in the Vancouver area does too. The vendor, Dan G, is located within a 45 minute drive of all the tracks.

Thank you for the info Dan. I am currently working on a new track and still haven't decided on what to use for timing. When the time comes, I'll probably go with Trackmate.

Here's a new track that's been added to the New England hub. This is Chris's Tolland Super Speedway with a longest lane length of 66 feet.





Surface's painted with latex and time management's Trackmate.

This'll be another good work out for the Sprites.
