Scratch Building is?

The so-called "season" is upon us. For the die hard slotter it's just a change in temps.

But newcomers arrive during this time.

I think that this year is a perfect time to show some of them what is possible in our scale if modeling isn't a stumbling block.

We all like many ready to run releases, but for those of you that build, you know the fun it brings.

So feel free to post all your builds. New or old. Remind all of us what scratch building brings :)

I've been working on a Monogram Surtees Lola. Neat looking cars, but they didn't run that great.So I've been modifying the one I have. The right gear ratio is a little hard to get right. Nothing a Dremel with a cutter bit wouldn't take care of. I had thought about a scratch built brass chassis but the original plastic one will suffice for now.

Most of my building involves matching up orphan bodies with chassis modified to fit, and trying to make toys run fast and smooth enough to race. I have done a few model kits just to run around the track.
