RMS Resins is closing up shop

Effective immediately, RMS Resins will be permanently closing due to health reasons. It turns out after all these years that I'm allergic to resins. Seriously. Tell me God doesn't have a sense of humor...

Thank you to all of my customers that became friends with each kit I created and sold. I've got thousands of memories of these interactions and want you all to know how much fun this has been over the years. I'd also like to thank you as this hobby-business was a real blessing financially in the lean years that my family endured just as many of you have. It was with that in mind that I have always tried to deliver maximum value in my kits. My prices never varied even as costs rose over the years. The advent of 3D printing was great fun for creating new cars and I'm really proud of the work I've done in that medium.

I'll now blend back into the background and get back to tuning the slot cars I have and working on my track as a "normal" slot car enthusiast. Oh, and sweeping up here since I've really slacked off on that. Harry will surely dock my pay...

Lastly - I'm probably going to get several "can I buy JUST this one mold..." The answer is no at this time. I have not yet decided what I'll do with the business, all the masters and current molds. I'd certainly entertain a good offer for everything, but my brain is still trying to wrap itself around the idea of no longer making cars I love. I'm also pretty picky with my stuff and thought of someone potentially producing a poor copy of my original work and selling it as " RMS..." well, that would really chap my hide.

WOW!! So sorry to hear about the closing of your business Dave. I've enjoyed all the bodies I've built and ran in proxies.

Health comes first sir, so we'd rather have you around playing with cars than the hobby you love, making you sick.

Crazy stuff David, and Yes A sense of humor. Before retirement i used to work in a lot of different areas of the country and spent many hrs with my team in hotels etc.
When i was 35 my Dr discovered my allergy to alcohol. Think of the hangovers i have avoided in the last 30 years lol.

AHA! That's the connection! Dum-Dums plus resin kicks in an allergic reaction! Eh, forget it. Nobody can give up Dum-Dums.

Bon chance, mon ami. My advice is to pack it all up really well so you don't have to look at it. Get a nice new air brush and learn some fancy painting techniques in a nice paint booth you place where the resin stuff was on your bench.

How unfair for you and for all of us. You're never really allergic to anything until you've been tested for it. I suggest avoiding a test for craft beer, scotch and anything related to the ladies. I do suggest a test to ensure that you are in fact allergic to laundry soap and dishwasher soap and vacuum cleaner filters. Best you convince the fetching Mrs. R you need to avoid any contact with that stuff. Oh yeah - yoga and anything vegan too.

Dave, one of the guys I do lots of trading with and swap resin stuff with was diagnosed allergic last year. He layed off any casting for a few months and now uses gloves and a fan to carry away any fumes and he does OK.

Hi David,
Is there any PPE you can wear to keep your health secure while still being able to make your great cars??
Perhaps you could oversee a non-alergic apprentice in the casting process?

Finally - without exposing you to any health issues -- would you have any castings available for final purchase?

I would love to have at least 1 Dart.
