Weather report - clear skies today and racing expected!

It's looking good that we'll get Round #3 run and in the books today. Just in case I laid down 200 laps of fresh rubber on each of the 3 lanes last night, vac'd the track and put the race into the computer. Tack cloth this morning and we could be on our way........ The green flag is currently expected to drop at around 9:00AM EST; checkered by 11:00. Stay tuned.

Round #3 is in the books!

In anticipation that things might pan out for a race today, I laid down 200 fresh rubber laps on each of the 3 lanes last night, so that traction would be where we wanted it to be when the green flag dropped. The track was vac'd this morning and a tack cloth was used just before the start to make sure that the surface was clean.

The cars were entered onto the track in reverse qualifying order, starting with slower qualifies and moving upwards to the fastest. We ran 3 minute heats, with the drivers staying in their lanes throughout the race, for a total of 9 minutes of racing per car. Tires were swiped on a sticky pad prior to entering the car onto the grid and again between lane changes. The race was run at 10V and a Trackmate timing system was used to monitor the race. Laps were measured to the nearest 1/10 of a lap and race results are based on total distance traveled by each of the cars. In the case of a final lap tie, fastest lap was used to determine the finishing position of the car.

Some cars "found" other cars...……..



Some cars sent others to the infield...…..



And some car couldn't leave each other alone...…..seriously, these two cars were door to door for one entire heat; one nipping the other by mere inches...….





Some employed novel racing tactics, designed to improve their position within the pack...…..





While others resorted to simple "climbing aboard" strategies...……..



We had a few 'stand up" moments...….



And a few "sit down" moments...……..



And one even had to pull over to take a call en route to the finish line.....



But all in all, the drivers played pretty well with each other.









And as someone once sang: "It happened on the strip where the road is wide...…." (hear old Beach Boys in your head...……)

I demand a re-race! Now way Smokeless can be in front, no way! (I assume it is because of the fargel pin picking up the homing signal)

All kidding aside, thanks Allan and TEAM, great coverage and quick turnaround of round 3. Great to see a new winner and different podium after two rounds dominated by car #1, I am personally delighted to at least finish ahead of that fast car, albeit in 6th. This is going to tighten up a few of the standings on the overall results.

Well done Rob and Chris on your respective and excellent 2nd and 3rd places, it looks like the racing was close, only partial laps separating many positions.

Thanks again, and on we move to round 4 and the Shoreliners, the home track of SMOKEIO>>>>>who approved that?? :angry-tappingfoot:
