To some people believe that scale is inportan . I have ask on this forum about scale and got no real answer. The other day some person wanted me to send them a car that I had found or this was the response that got when i told him the scale that was printed in the bottom of car 1/41 regarding the Camaro - thanks for the offer, but unfortunately is not 1/43 scale and thus not interesting. I am really in for exact scale ( or as exact as possible ). now when found this car the 1/43 or as exact as possible ) now I have checked this car out that when I found this chart and use it I found that the company had made mistake now I"m try my hardest to find 1/43 or as exact as possible to make into slot cars so here it is see for your self

Thanks Mike for the chart. I prefure the model cars we play with be close to the advertized scale they say they are, but have been in this hobby long enough to realize that's not always the case. I have bought some die cast models that said they were 1/32scale to use as backgrownd display for my track only to get them and discover they are closer to 1/43 scale. It just don't look right for your "1/32 scale" pick up/tow truck to be smaller then your 1/32 scale Mustang. But because I enjoy cars of all shapes and sizes and scales, I don't let it bother me to much, I just keep adding to my collection.

Unfortunately I am a bit of a stickler for scale, Because I want my cars to look good on the track together or even sitting on a table. The difference between 1/43 and 1/40 may seem pretty small, but on some cars it can be 1/2 an inch or more! Personally I do not think that 1/43 is THE ideal size for slot cars! If I had my choice I would go with 1/40 scale (or there abouts). Allot of manufacturers have done 1/40th scale cars; Carrera, Motorific, Jouef to name the ones that come to mind, but nobody recently. The other problem with doing something other then 1/43 or 1/32 is that suddenly all your landscaping and scenic opportunities go right out the window! 1/40 is just a bit too big (IMHO) to use O-scale supplies and too small to use what little 1/32 stuff there is out there. Since I like a fully scenic'ed track I am gonna hafta stick to 1/43! Or as close to it as I can! This makes me wonder when Kyosho will come out with scenic pieces for their track system?

1/38th.....would open up a lot of possibilities from the military side....

Personally I'd toss the magnets, use much smaller gears and motors to
keep the detail and wheel proportions of 1/43rd statics.
Until 1/43rd gets these things and full interiors I will stay on the fence..
....I know it can be done.

I like the scale rather it be accurate or not.

My self not knowing enough about engineering mathematics I'm unable to do as Roland dose but I like and appreciate his skill and determination for scale accuracy and that is what I like about this hobby if you lack the back ground to do the stuff that OM, Roland and some of the others do that is fine.

They still like what you attempted to do from modifying a rtr chassie to doing a diecast to slot conversion to finding a plastic toy and cutting it up and making it into a dirt track racer or what ever strikes your fancy this scale is a tough scale to find any thing in the right portion to scale.

But you all got to remember that SCX,CARRERA,and now with Kyosho the accuracy is getting better.

Further more no one should get mad at a question about scale accuracy we are here to improve are hobby and fun by sharing our idea's and what one person wants this scale to have is up to them and not everyone else there is no right or wrong in this cause it is up to each person to decide for themselves how far they want it to be from just a toy to a work of art and scale accuracy. and that is how each one of us have fun in this hobby that is called slot car racing.

So quit nit picking each other idea's and lets get sharing and building our hobby cause if you let other's take your fun away shame on you but if you learn and improve your skill you might just raise your fun level up a bit.

SO IN ENDING GO HAVE FUN

I would like to thank you one and all. I wish that I could write better so I’m going to borrow from this forum a few key points that I got out this "And yes, size may vary on 1/43rd cars"A really nice new theory... It should better read "...on cars called 43rd" Scale stays scale. Only the interpretation changes.
"If it looks right to the eye, I will not count beans"

This is just as acceptable as my intention to build real scale. Not more, not less.makes the scale appealing to me..the ability to find interesting diorama style models to go with the slotcars. I doubt they are ever going to be as race able as larger scales, but for me it's ideal home track size..to focus on scale is important..not to the extent of rivet counting, but to ensure reasonable accuracy in size and proportions.

you all boiled it down better... THANKS .

So has not to hi-jack the thread. Roland where can I see more.....
....like chassis' and wheels?

I think your going to a level where I'd like to try 1/43rd.

Schackel when you get things sorted out givin your back ground will you make any of your items that you make available such as your motors and gearing and maybe some other stuff as well?

I thought something like this is why you are so scale accurate.

My grandfather use to work for lionel and before that he worked for marks an he was always making sure his train layout was in scale to the tenth degree and his trains he built everything from the ground up from blueprints of the 1:1 locomotive steam engines, freight cars, flat beds.

If it went on the rails he had a model of it some where, from being on the layout to the train show room or in the train storage area where it seemed to me where in the thousands of boxes that contained his trains plus some store bought ones.
