I believe the unknown mechanic is Eddie Cantlon, who worked for Harry Miller at the time
they built the Golden Submarine. The engine is a work of art, and Fred Offenhauser cut
his teeth with Miller before becoming one of auto racing's premier engine builders.

I just read about this not long ago in a book whose title I can't recollect. :doh: It's an early attempt at streamlining, back before the concept of putting a car in a wind-tunnel ever entered anyone's mind. They just eyeballed it. That's a very cool addition for your wall above the track.
