#18 is here now in solitary.

They put a tracking device on one and it made it back home from 20+ miles away. It seems that as long as one is caged the others do not bother the garden -so far - mean little critter they are!

In Ohio it is illegal to relocate them except to your property.

My first post here and it's about racoons?
I have 15 acres in the northeastern tip of Tn and the discouragemeant of choice here is a 20 gauge and turkey shot. Quite effective at relatively short range (lotsa trees).

You know those East Tennessee ridge runners got as much vertical property as horizontal. From above its 15 acres. If you had to walk across it, you'd walk 30 miles. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth I dated an East Tennessee mountain girl. She had great laigs, and a good haid on her shoulders and cooked aigs for breakfast! She married a preacher and moved to even steeper mountains in North Carolina, I heard.

When I was a Cub Scout, there was a father and son Pinewood Derby race. This was when it was actually pine, and the axles were nails, the wheels were crappy plastic. I made a rough model of an Offenhauser Roadster, but my father (an artist, architect and nut), carved a very realistic raccoon with a bushy tail and a pointed nose. We didn't win, but we sure got a lot of attention.

Yes, my place is affectionately referred to as "goat country" by many. But we have mostly wild turkey, deer on occasion and I get a rabbit escort up and down the drive frequently. All are unmolested here except the occasional 'possum or racoon. The racoons seem to follow an odd "every 4 years or so" cycle? Shoot one and they seem to leave quite readily.

I am averaging almost one a day but they keep coming. I have made "friends" with 20 so far.

I may get wolf urine to scare them away.
