Slot shots (Image intensity: High)

Postby Ember » Fri Jul 19, 2013 11:20 pm

I guess by now people around here have a fair idea that I enjoy photographing my cars almost as much as I enjoy driving them and tinkering with them. So, rather than posting a lot of different threads with various pictures of pretty cars I thought I'd keep them all here.

Let's start the ball rolling with some from a recent session. The inspiration for these was a photo competition on another forum with a theme of "Slot Cars in Motion"

I enjoyed those photos, but that is nothing new. From the photos to track scenery etc, your work is always top notch. Thanks for sharing Ember!

Ember, Nice shots. Isn't that MG one of the most fun cars to drive? If I may make a suggestion... it looks like you are using flash to take the pictures. If so, see if your camera will allow you to adjust for "second curtain flash ". This way the flash goes off with the closing of the second shutter curtain, instead of firing when the first curtain opens. That means that the motion of ghost images (headlights, fenders, etc.) will fall behind the car, rather than in front of the car, making the streaks look more natural.

Yes Czar. It's a beauty and such a fun little car. Actually makes some of the Ninco classics feel cumbersome.

Unfortunately, I don't have the option to program the flash. Base model old flash unit. Or if I do, I don't know how. Have to dig up the old manual and scan through it. I don't use the flash much. Hate it really. Only bought it to shoot a netball tournament that I was asked to cover years ago. Forgot I had it.

I spent a little bit of me time with the track and my camera yesterday playing around with one of the latest additions to the shelf.

Very nice, Ember. Your use of depth-of-field is excellent for these photographs. In the last image it looks the driver's head is being pushed back by the acceleration. Was he a former contract driver for MRRC? Just a little teasing, nice work.

Thanks a lot Ember, you just make me want to buy that Camaro and make a real T/A race car out of it. If it only had the correct hood for a T/A car.

Lee I'm sure, with 5 tool variants for the hood, the right one will come your way...... eventually.

Some recent arrivals to the garage get their starring chance.

Firstly the little LMM Panhard. Beautiful little car and I do mean little. Superbly detailed. The colour makes it difficult to capture well. I'll have to work harder with this one.
