1/32 Stocker Series - XB Falcon

Postby ListerStormGT » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:35 am

Ok so Harry pulled a fast one on me starting on the RMS Cougar and not only that, scratch building a chassis for it no less! While I was at HRW a couple months back I picked up this car when we stopped at a hobby shop on the way to HRW HQ. While we were all messing around with our cars and I believe Harry was putting his magic on the chassis for this car I grabbed the body and held it up against the chassis for the Mello Yello Camaro to see what it would look like as a dirt car. Of course I thought it looked pretty cool, so tonight looking for something to do I came across some 15x8 CB Design F1/ Modified wheels and some 22126 PG tires in my parts. I figured why not lets just do it, no paint needed as I liked the way it was and didn't have to hack up too much of the fenders to get the look I wanted. I did put a NSR Scaley gear set on it and cut out the side windows. Still need to sand the tires but now I have a Aussie dirt track car. Hopefully the Aussie members wont get too upset with me for this. ;)

I like these XB GTs....I recently bought one but I would never do what you have done with the wheels.
I am nearly an Aussie being in New Zealand...many of the Fords falcons were on our roads too.

You have reminded me of a Tee shirt slogan my hotrodding neighbour used to wear.
"Any one can restore and antique but it takes a real man to cut one up"

Hey Lee I like it! Its different. Ive got a silly question though. Ive been watching all these great buildslately of these HRW stocker cars. With the wheels hanging way outside the guards, doesn't the tires rub on the guards? So Im guessing you guys dont run your bodies loose for some body float? Theres not much space between the top of the tire & bottom of the guard. Either way I like them all but with each one I cant help but think wow those tires must rub?

Whats the next car in the series you are building?

Thanks guys. :D

Greg, on this one I did make it a little tight but I still need to sand the tires a little so once I get those done I may still go back and trim away some more of the fenders if needed. I just didn't want to take away too much before I sand down the tires. Most of the cars have some float but not so much that the tires rub. I try to give them enough space even though it might look tight in pictures.

Ditto to what Lee said.

Tires do not rub sir. It looks close but I assure you we do have body float and plenty of clearances.
