Questions about switching an SCX Compact car to 3/32" axles

I have a few questions about switching an SCX Compact car to 3/32" axles to accommodate set screw wheels and a set screw crown gear.

1) What is the best method for removing the rear axle from an SCX Compact slot car?

2) Will the SCX Compact chassis accept a 3/32" axle or will the axle holes need to be enlarged?

3) Do you know of an aftermarket 3/32" inline crown gear that will fit the SCX Compact chassis without any trimming of the chassis? I wasn't sure if any of the Ranch Design crown gears or gears from another manufacturer would match the stock plastic gear profile enough to fit the chassis or not.

Ranch has Gears to fit the SCX axle (Gnurrling filed down) or wheels to fit the 3/32' axles; personally I prefer the smaller axles for 1/43.

I was looking to use the Superjet wheels (http://www.superjetslotcars.com/wheels.html) with the Minilite wheel inserts on a used SCX Compact Cuda that I was able to get off of eBay. The Superjet wheels are for a 3/32" axle. I would prefer to keep the stock axle size but haven't been able to source any aftermarket wheels that have the correct scale looking inserts. I will most likely just keep the car stock since I am not too keen on having to enlarge the axle holes of the Cuda chassis to accommodate the larger 3/32" axles.

the knurled parts of the stock SCX axles fit barely through the axle holes - only did that on that front axle!
kept the stock axle on all my SCX based cars, only removed the wheels and glued them on afterwards. SuperGlue works great to reduce the axle play in the SCX chassis.
just took a look at the superjet wheels - the inserts look nice, but i honestly don´t like the supertires, they are VERY hard to sand, a real PITA.

The Superjet wheels also accept the stock SCX Compact NASCAR/Cuda tires and Jel Claw tires.

I use Ranch wheels with the smaller diameter hole.

To do this I CAREFULLY remove the stock wheel with pliers (or by hand); to do this grip the wheel (sans tire) firmly and pull/twist in one motion, this will effectively take the wheel off without damaging it too much (in case you need to use it for something later; i find that after removal these SCX wheels fit over a 3/32 axle pretty well and have used them on a few Artins) (Note: if you just twist the wheel without pulling typically the inside of the wheel will just get gouged away and the wheeel still won't come off!! )Then I take a file and knock down the gnarly part of the gnurling on the axle. After that I put the car on a test bed (or you can put it on a track Power strip) and turn it to full throttle. While @ full trottle I take a small file and run it across the end of the axle to smooth it out evenly, stopping every few seconds to test fit the Ranch wheel I will be using. When I can get the wheel on, I stop. Whalla!

My cars prepared in this way run SMOOTH! Sounds harder then it is, but sometimes you can use a third hand!

Your information helps. I am kind steering away from the Ranch Design wheels since I prefer wheels with inserts at the moment. Either way, it's good to learn all the different options which I am sure that I may use at some point.
