Busy Saturday!

Postby dreinecke » Sat Oct 19, 2013 4:41 pm

Ok, after taking the spousal unit shopping, out to lunch, and then mopping the floors at home, I finally have some slot car time (and have built up quite a bit of "credit" if you know what I mean ;)

Anyway on the docket this weekend:

1) Build molds for 3 new wheel inserts I need
2) Build molds for 4 figures I want to repop for myself
3) Work on the Dart!
4) Repaint a Scalextric 1970 Camaro to the silver #71 originally driven by Robert Clemens
5) Finish painting and building 2 of my 1968 Javelins
6) Tune another SCX Cuda and 3 more T/A cars - including my resin Challenger and 1970 Firebird.

WHEW!

Well I'm happy someone has a lot of ambition. I've been slacking after finishing the "Short Bus" VW. I did add some foil to it for the headlights and the VW emblem, just need to paint the taillights. :)

Speaking of the short bus!!! I saw one on the road yesterday! VERY cool! Two-tone red metallic and white and the back pickup bed had nice chrome tube bars around it.

Got a few things done: tunes all of these! The Challenger and Trans-Am both got new tires and full tunes. A little wax on both and the TA got the wheels painted correctly.

The SCX cars got the full chassis trim as well.

The 1970 Camaro is a repaint of the actual car raced and one that Listerstorm has done as well. I attempted to replicate the correct lights on the front of the car.

Still working on other stuff, but the Broncos are on!

Greetings, that is a grand looking fleet of slot cars you have there. The #71 is a real eye catcher. Always nice to build up credit points with the wife. Regards, John

Sounds like fun times Dave. Can't go wrong with Trans-Am Cars. Watching the Bronco game also.

Dave, the #71 came out great! I love the look of that car and its a simple repaint, I need to make another one. What did you use for the added signal lights?

David I was wondering just how much you trimmed of the SCX Cudas & did it help a lot also Camaro looks good sometimes
plain & simple paint with numbers & a few sponsor decals looks better than multi colour paintwork

Richard - thanks for the compliments on the Camaro!

I trimmed alot of the Cuda chassis and front valance. I'll post a pic after work tonight. It worked FANTASTIC! Quiet and smooth now.
