Wow Guys!

That is some real quality input there from everyone, I thank you so very much and also some great little tuning tips too, much appreciated...

...Ok consensus is that it isn't up to par with the earlier releases which is a pity, they were beautiful.

For the sake of variance in our fleet of runners (because that will be its lot!), it will be worth fettling to get up and happening. The clear coat that David demonstrated in his post is an issue, never mind the Queensland summer is here, Ill just bake the bugger into submission!!!!

After a few hours use the other stuff wont matter much for us, they get hacked up with use, just glad I dont collect shelf queens anymore or it would be pretty disappointing.

Thanks Guys!!!!

One last thing- Kurt, you are right again. I experimented, and it definitely is the result of taking too long to finish or getting distracted. Whew. I wasn't looking forward to getting into that.

I would like to get one, but I'm losing hope. My LHS has had them ordered since last November, a year later still no cars. An email was sent 2-3 weeks ago about said cars. He was told he would get back to him in 48 hours, well 2-3 weeks later no communication. That's why I'm losing hope now. :(

I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Mine came from Top Slots n Trains. I did have to adjust the spacing of the front wheels on the axles but they turn freely now. All the paint and tampo look very good. I had issues with the more golden shade of yellow but searching photos make the choice Pioneer made plausible. Mechanically it runs every bit as good as the Pioneer mustangs and it out paces it's Scaley cousins.

Could it have been better? Of course. But since Pioneer is basically starting over from scratch with manufacturing I give them a B+ overall and I think this product is much better than what I ended up getting from another brand that has started over recently.

Dear Readers,

You could be forgiven for thinking that a special lemon had been created and planted in the hands of David by way of a specially constructed conspiracy.

Despite rumours to the contrary, I can assure you that it is not within my power or desire to build and track such a model and plant it (via a UK dealer) into the hands of David.

I'd be crazy to do that. Wouldn't I?

You know what, talking Pioneer is just not worth the effort any more. So I'll end my thoughts with this.

Any thread on just about any forum reporting less than stellar experience with Pioneer models has a way of disappearing. That is not fair to we consumers who are on limited funds and have come to expect a certain level of quality once evident on earlier models. (Mustangs, Chargers) I certainly hope that this one survives so that the reports contained within may serve of some use in the way of product feedback to those still left undecided.

No conspiracy here nor is any suggested. Just an honest review of what came in my box. Like I stated, it ran very well after I fixed a few things...right up until lap #63...

Now to find a new motor...

Jesse,
I believe Harry agreed to keep this up as long as it doesn't go south like the last one did. I don't think anyone has said any derogatory comments directed at anyone personally and everything thus far has been constructive criticism on what they have found with their models. We all deserve to know what others are finding whether it be good or bad so we know what to expect.

For the record, it was my car that David had mentioned in his earlier post about the uncured clear coat where my fingers leave prints in the finish. I purchased mine from the Inaslot website and my car looks very nice but for some odd reason if I touch it, I leave imprints in the finish and I cant buff them out even with a wax. The only other issue my car had was one wobbly rear wheel that was not drilled or centered on the axle correctly. It is definitely not the same quality that we are used to from this company and it really is a shame, all of it.

I think we as consumers have every right to be displeased at things like this when we spend our hard earned dollars and we have every right to voice our opinions about it.

I am reluctant to wade in here but will none the less. I think that with all of the troubles Jules has had with the Chinese manufacture and the subsequent moving of that production half way around the globe, that a quality problem surfacing isn't all that surprising. I know that this isn't a help to all of you folks who are not happy with the cars you have received, I wouldn't write off Pioneer completely. Judge them by the second or third? Yes. But this single incident on a new start up? I say no. Perhaps a private email to Jules would have taken care of the problem with better result and without the acrimony. Just my $0.02.
Mike

P.S. Wrot this and than went out. I came home to realize I wrote without instead of with which changed my meaning. I made the correction in the italic'd word.

I have two of the Pioneer Mustangs and love them, Out run any of my ScaleXtric Tran-am 2 Mustangs, 3 Camaros cars any time. Yes I change Alxes, gears, wheels and tires on both for the wooden tracks. I plan on getting the Sunoco Camaro as soon as I can.
