Had a band of ice come through here and it is making it one nasty day.

Hovered around zero all yesterday and is -6 at the moment. The system left about 5" of white stuff and ice. This is a February cold-snap in December for sure.

The UK is getting hammered with 100mph winds and record tide surges, as well.

We're getting a LOT of rain last night and today, and then tonight we'll get the same storm you guys are getting, with the sustained cold and ice. I hope the water near the foundation isn't going to cause some cracking.

Everyone be safe, keep warm, stock up if you can, and play with some slot cars.

We're due to get it on Friday night, but with rain every day and night between now and then, I'm more concerned about the ice from moisture already here than what the storm brings with it. As the county grew out to where we are, our area (about half of a square mile which used to be all agricultural), was surrounded by much newer streets and curbed neighborhoods with city sewers and other city-style elements. What that means is that we are among the last to see a snow removal crew, and there are no curbs on what used to be a country road, so the high domed street will slide you right off into a little ditch on either side of the road in an instant. About 4 inches of snow paralyzes us, and a quarter inch of ice closes us down the same way.

Look out Memphis. You are looking at worse than we are.

Luckin' out here on Long Island so far. Mid 40-50 F temps, w/ light occasional rain and just a slight breeze.
Maybe we're gettin' some sympathy from the weather man after Sandy's blast last year!
Traveling 3hrs. west to set up at the big Morgantown, PA Toy Car Extravaganza EARLY Sunday morning, so I'll be hoping for reasonable travel conditions!

We got a little rain last night, and a few sprinkles today so far. They say it's headed our way, but it will be around midnight when it gets here. I would prefer the snow. We don't need the ice. :)

Just had an email from a dear friend in the UK. They've got storm surge warnings along the coast.

We've even scored a cold snap. From 31C on Wednesday to 13C and sleet yesterday. It's a bit nuts.
