Harry, those look like aluminum wheels all around. That's how the crown gear change came about, right? Why did you forego the converter from later motors to the NC-1 configuration? I have a stack of those converters, but if I don't need them, maybe I shouldn't waste them.

Are you asking why I did not use a motor adaptor to mount the motor? If so, because I just make a styrene bar and glue them in. Seems to work ok, and I was out of adaptors.

A stack of them eh? heheheh

The wheels...yes, this was a car from Pendle. It came with no motor and I bought the Penelope Pitlane wheels and just dolled it up all around. It was last seen laying in Doc's box as he boarded the plane home.

The tire I like is the PG 21093 XPG. You have to sand it to get the right diameter, but you would do that anyway for truing.

Working on one now...you motivated me. I'll post it here in awhile.

Oh yeah, I remember that. I got one of those also. I popped an NC-1 into it and set it in the waiting area for this project. Maybe. I might have used one of Mark's motors. I just didn't want to park it in the waiting spot with no motor. I've been saving up for this one for a while. A whole fleet of my favorites at once- hoohah!

Ok, pulled this one off the shelf and gave it a tune.

Image

Chassis sanded. Front clip removed and glued to the body. MT motor. Front axle shimmed up. Stock guide. Scratch motor mount again.

Little lead in the bottom.

Tire change.

Runs great. Most won't like the chassis mods, but I like to try new things. This old ride has sat on the shelf too long and this was fun.

Thanks Rob, you made my night :)

That silver 140 hardtop is a beautiful beast. Actually it might be a 150. It looks straight along the top shelf line... no hips.

I hadn't noticed that before, but you're right, it is. I wasn't looking forward to fabricating that roof, anyway!

The Ninco Jag's my best driveable Classic car on wood as well with the same added lead sheet like others.

Got mine as an incomplete project including the gorgeous BRM wire wheels for Ninco axles.

Image

Added a hard tonneau cover and fairing and painted it with Testors British Green. Took forever to dry so I'd use Tamiya paint next time.

Worked out well.

Nice, Dan. I have some duplicates in the group that I will paint, so I'm looking all the time at colors and liveries. I have ordered a bunch of tires this morning, and I remembered that I have some of those BRM wheels, too. Maybe I'll make one of the cars a sort of NC-1 ultra, with all kinds of goodies to take full advantage of the motor like I never have done in all these years. I always daydreamed about building an NC-1 car that would catch a Slot.it on a twisty road course. I'll get Kurt to drive it and someone else will take the Slot.it- well, I said it would take full advantage, didn't I? I'm looking for a substitute for the steel wheels so many of the cars that raced had. So far, the steel wheels from a snap-tite kit are the front runners, but I'm still looking.

I don't know rob, the SCC steelies looks pretty good to me.

15x7's would be fine. Use the axle as your center. I take my axle ends and use 800 grit to polish the ends.

Thanks to those photos you posted I might just convert one to steel.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for the steel wheels and the painted spokes. Just looks cool to me. Do those SCC wheels take paint very well? I think I remember seeing one you did that had them painted, right?

I really haven't found inserts that I'm 100% happy with. I'd really like steels with the half moon hubcaps, but not had much luck finding them.

Turn a set and send it to Slotgun Dave. If we ask him really nicely he might reproduce them in resin for us.
