Every year, I try to get companies to furnish prizes for our racers, without much success. This year, I put a lot more effort into it and presented it to companies as a business case fo0r them to invest in us. While we don't have many in attendance for our oval track races, we do get over 50,000 unique users on our website each year. Couple that with the exposure we get from forums like this one, integration with Facebook and Twitter, and you can actually make a pretty good case as to why they should work with you. I am happy to report that after sending out almost 100 requests, we are going to have series sponsors for our 12 divisions in 2014.

First up - We are proud to announce that Liquid Wrench will be providing prizes for 2014. This is an exciting one. I can't remember ever NOT having a can of Liquid Wrench in my garage. The staff at Liquid Wrench were enthusiastic about slot cars, because slot car racers are builders and tinkerers. They were pleasant, responsive, and gave more than I asked for. They actually thanked me for agreeing to work with them. (That felt good after 50 or more rejection letters). We are looking forward to partnering with them to spread the word about slot cars far and wide.

Yep. We are actually going to brand a series for them, do the whole victory lane picture thing, etc. We knew Liquid Wrench would get it when their guy told me about their other website, http://www.tinkernation.com When I see articles about making Christmas ornaments out of stuff found in a dumpster, well, these are my people.

It would be AWESOME if they or you offered some pit box decals/stickers linking them to slot car racing! I'd have to have one of those to add to my case! If something like that comes to be - please let me know!

Next up, and a direct reply to the previous post... We are proud to have RockAuto.com on board as well. In addition the "goodies" that they are sending, RockAuto.com is having wristbands printed (at their expense) that are co-branded RockAuto.com - Smith Scale Speedway. I've been a RockAuto.com customer for years. Over the last two months, I bought new floor pans for one of my Jeeps from them, and new light housings for another. Great people, great prices.

Today's news is very cool. Fluidampr will be a series sponsor next year. Fluidamper makes performance harmonic balancers found in lots of race cars. They enthusiastically jumped on board to help. A couple of their execs are into slot cars, and one had actually heard of our track. The are sending banners, stickers, gift certificates, and other items. HUGE thanks to Fluidampr for supporting slot cars.

I just got off the phone with Sanel Auto Parts. They are going to be a series sponsor in 2014! We are proud to be associated with a New England company established back in 1933. Thank you Sanel Auto Parts! Here's how Sanel did it back in the 40's (Fred Carr making leaf springs):
