Absolutely SCX Stock cars are allowed but our experiences with SCX has been a little disappointing with power from their stock motors. :doh: Currently we have two members that have SCX NASCARS. :text-thankyouyellow:

Wow! What an absolutely AWESOME day of slot car racing.

The Florida Orange remains my favorite 8 lane, no big bank 1/32nd slot car track in Florida. It is a challenging track that just sits there waiting for you to think you have it "mastered". When you think you have it all, the track reaches out and trips you up. I think I need to spend a whole day there just running laps to find out more about this track. I love running on it, but it will chew you up from timt to time. Since we run "modified crash & burn" rules, being qble to run as fast as the track will hold, without going over the edge, is very important. We run 2, one minute stints per heat. If you come off during the first stint, your car is moved out of the path of others. At the end of the first stint, your car is put bwck in where you came out and the green flag comes out for the final 60 second stint of the heat. Of course if you come out again, your car is moved to a safe spot as the rest of the field continues to run laps. You would be very surprised how long a minute can be!

We got to race Scalextric "box stock" NASCAR stock cars. You can put Paul Gage or Yellow Dog tires on your car, but that is the modification permitted. After that we raced Slot.It Group C cars. Finally we enjoyed racing Scalextric Trans-Am cars.

It was a FUN-filled day of slot car racing. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

The November 24th race has been cancelled due to a schedule mix up with the track. Slot Car Raceway & Hobbies will be hosting a GRRR Retro Race. December 8 will be ON like Donkey Kong! :auto-driving:

Sunday was our last race before the Christmas break. Our regular racing competitor turnout was light. This was understandable because of the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Holiday Season; but, we pulled it all together and had one heck of a great day of slot-mania.

Everybody was excited about Haley Johnson’s son, Ian, being here for his Christmas visit. :character-beavisbutthead: Dad made sure Ian had a new custom slot car controller and cars to drive. Not having a Trans Am race car, Mike Henry loaned Ian his awesome Camaro where he finished just a few laps shy of second place. Not bad considering how many months it’s been since he got in some track time. He is a natural racer. Ian is a long time beloved member of the Slot Car Raceway & Hobbies family and everyone gets excited when he comes into town.

Nathan is the elite racer in our group so it’s never a surprise that he leaves the field with his splendid cars. Granddad Eddie Stilly operated the race program keeping all us speed crazed racers on the level.

Mason and Eric Yost dropped in for a little test and tune on their 1/24 race cars but spent the majority of their time corner marshalling and cheering on the racing event of the day.

Many regular patrons of the track and even some Christmas shoppers dropped who dropped in were caught up in the racing. It’s truly amazing to hear the reaction of on lookers when they realize just how interesting it is to see the realism of 1/32 scale racing. Comments like “They look just like real cars” and “now that looks like fun” always seem to give a thrill that they weren’t expecting.

4. Capt’n Bob: 162

Capt’n Bob blistered the pack with his Smokey Yunick Boss Mustang with the fastest lap on BLUE despite having serious troubles with his guide flag that plagued his lap count: @ 6.417

:music-rockout: After the excitement of Christmas has waned there will be a Beginner’s Race Sunday, December 29th for all those new racing enthusiast that received slot cars for Christmas. Johnny Banks and Rollin Isbell are very interested in promoting the sport of slot car racing with our new generation. We are all pulling together to provide knowledge and skills needed to guide new hobbyists into our family. Not to mention that kids will learn the practical applications of physics, math, sciences and last, but of course not least - Sportsmanship.

:angry-soapbox: The dawn of the New Year will breathe new life into 1/32nd scale slot car racing. Slot Car Raceway & Hobbies and Jacksonville Slot Car Club are dedicated to bringing the enjoyment and thrill of slot car racing with focus on family fun. :banana-dance:
