looking for ideas on a few old favorites

Now that all the snows plowed and the blower ready for the storm on saturday thought I would see if the HRW knowledge base could help with some ideas on affvordable models of some favorite cars.1/32 scale on Sport track.
Lotus 30/40
Auto Union type D, and something to race againest it
1962 Sprite, I owned one, my first car.
Would appreckate possible body sources and frame / motor combinations

Can't help on the Lotus or the Auto Union. Shotgun Dave does a resin Bugeye body and I think one of the other resin casters does a "Spridget" body. Look in the Scratchbuilders section, there is list of resin casters, check them and you'll probably find just what you're looking for.

Did I hear my name? The Spridget is available from Penelope Pitlane, http://www.penelopepitlane.co.uk. Not sure how much longer Steve will be doing it though.

Auto Union D should be available from a few sources. If worse comes to worst there is always the Matchbox kit.

Yes, Pink Kar does have an Auto Union, but they are dreadfully expensive for what they are. Most of them have an Ackerman steering system that falls apart very quickly and the engine has no torque. It's also easily fried. I put a scalextric RX engine in mine (direct swap, snap in) and scalextric wheels. It's a nice car now, but the price adds up.

Thanks everyone Ill follow up on some of your suggestions.
I,m trying to narrow my focus and yes, recapture my youth. I hit 65 this March. I run ninco and carrera classics, though I have lately got hooked on 60s/70sCanAm stuff. Want to remotor my classics as Ive seen done on this forum withi mt type motors. Also have ordered a pyramid supply to adjust volts down.

I was aware of the Pink Car version of the Auto Union, but have heard what you verified, that it requires a healthy investment of time and funds. Had hoped there might have been a resin one that could have an available frame stuck under it. Ill just save my retirement funds and maybe Cartrx will produce one.

If I say pretty please maybe an article will appear on the "spridget". Where I grew up you were an MG guy or an Austin Healy fan. There was a distinct socio -economic disticntion.

Really pumped on the Lotus, back when trex roamed the earth I had a 1/24 version, think it was a Cox, that I had a lot of fun with at the local track

On the Lotus 30/40:
Strombecker made one that is pretty reasonably available on the evil auction site. Also, Hawk made one that was a slot car and the same body in a shelf model; and I happen to have an example sitting on the sale/trade shelf.....PM me if you are interested.

The Auto Union was also available from Matchbox but probably 15 years ago. I have it on good authority that a resin version will be available in the future as these are sort of hard to come by now.

pm on the way concerning the auto union kit, Im more inclined to a resin body as id hate to deprive the world of a detailed model kit. Concerning the triumph crowd, there was a couple, but both had been modified with small block chevy engines. Went great in a straight line. Also forgot about the strombecker lotus, have to see what I can find.

Agree on feeling like the odd man out with the lotus, the cheetah was the favorite at the track in my neighborhood.
Seems I recall a lot of candy applle paint jobs and wide tires.
