scx compact magnetless, technical questions

Hi,

I'm planning to build a new track this year, multiscales (from h0 to 1/32), 3 or 4 lanes, and I'd like to run my cars magnetless. The multiplayer side of this new project is really focused on 1/43. I'm especially interested by SCX compact range, I already bought 6 nascar cars from this brand.


I already own parma eco controllers, 45ohm, and my power supply is 12volt (13.8volt measured) 8A. Will it be good for SCX compact (or other 1/43 magnetless vehicles) ? Or should I buy other resistors for my parmas ?

The other question is about car behaviour : are the stock tires good enough for magnetless racing, or should I replace them with silicon or uréthane tires ? Should I add some weight in the cars ?

Maybe is there some "low magnet" option for scx compact, like the Carrera Profi cars ? I own a few carrera profi cars, and they are very similar in handling and behaviour to magnetless big scale slotcars.

great to see you´re still around!
The power supply sounds perfect up to 4 lanes magnetless 1/43rd racing!
I like 90ohm controllers for SCX (and Go!) cars, more controll.
I don´t add any weight to my cars, but i´m using PU tires. Before K&D went out of production i used those, but now i changed to CarGo tires from Germany, great product. Good grip and handling, fine quality.
Magnets? I built a wood track with latex paint and copper tape, since that point, magnets are just weigth ;) in other sorry, can´t help you with a low magnet option.
You are building a wood track as well? I used lane spacing from Go! track, works great on my track, too. I only got 4 1/32nd cars, all are Mini Coopers, they can race on the track, too. Also the Tomy SRT Ford GT40s are doing well. Using CarGo tires on them, too.

I'm currently thinking on how I'll proceed for the new track. I think I'll go for a wall mounted "folding" track, wich should allow me to go for a quite massive 13'x6' board. I believe I'll recycle my old 1/32 artin plastic tracks, since parts still available in Europe, 3 radius options, and the ultra flat track will work well from Ho to 1/32 without significant troubles. And it's lightweight, important factor for wall mounting.


Concerning the controllers, your answer comfort me in the feeling I already had with Ho and carrera go, that the fact my parma eco 45ohm were a bit sensitive for my own taste. I will problably buy spare 60ohm resistors, wich should be a good balance for all the scales I'll run.

These days I'm especially interested in 1/43, this scale seems to have reached the maturity. I especially like the price of them, perfect for my purpose (racing with unequiped casual racers).

I'll keep you informed about my progress, I hope really soon !
