Changing the slot.It Porsche 911 GT1 98 motor pod

Since I'm not sure how many members here also browse SCI I decided to make this post here. The other day I decided to see what would be the result of swapping an inline motor pod assembly from one of my McLaren F1GTRs with the anglewinder setup in one of my Porsche 911 GT1-98s. The improvement in handling and resulting lap times for the Porsche was, in my mind, significant. Lap times dropped by around 3 tenths of a second from 6.6 sec/lap to 6.3 sec/lap on my 65' routed mdf road course. The car has yellow dog tires installed. There were no clearance problems making the switch to the inline pod for the orange endbell 21.5k motor. It is the stock motor pod that came with the McLaren. I made no other changes to the setup and I ran laps with my other Porsche 911 GT1-98 to confirm the results and be sure it wasn't track conditions that accounted for the improvement.

The anglewinder pod worked well with the McLaren giving lap times close to it's previous record. My next project will be to obtain another inline motor pod, motor and gears to convert my Sideways BMW M1.
