When using the SCC bushing alignment axle & CB design wheels, how do you go about truing the tires once the bushings are aligned. If you secure the bushings how do you re & re the wheel and keep the tire true? If you assemble the rear axle how do you keep the bushings aligned? Am I missing something or is it just to late at nite to think clearly.

If you've glued your bushings in place already, use a different set to hold the axle and true your tyres. Otherwise, glue and true tyres and THEN align and glue bushings.

Always useful to have spare bushings available anyway. Those pesky things are easy to drop and misplace.

Thank you Ember buts that's where I'm confused, to remove the CB design wheel from the axle you have to remove the tire from the wheel to access the set screw. And you think those pesky bushings are hard to find you should try the set screws and they are concrete magnetic. :lol: :lol:

I tend to mark the back of the wheel with a felt pen and leave rear access to that section of tyre unglued.

If it's a low profile tyre then the access hole through the tyre works a treat.

To get the screw loose for the wheel. Take a pin or needle and put a hole in the tire where the set screw is. Then you can push your allen wrench thru the hole. The hole will close back up and you won't notice it.

All of my tire truing is done on a Hudy Tire Truer. Just something I've had for years and I'm used to using it.

Once I glue the tires on, I use that pin trick to punch an access hole (JK has been doing this for years on their line of commercial slot car tires) to provide access for tightening / loosening the set screw.

Since you are not dealing with any knurling on a Slot.It axle, as stated you can glue the bushings in place, then use another set of bushings to do your tire truing. I assume you are using the Tire Razor.

Hello Randy,

Some good advise from the previous posters. When making a hole in your tire:

DO :dance:
1. Use a sharp, pointed "tool" like a pin or needle as suggested, or
2. Use a pin vise with a very small drill bit to carefully "drill" the hole.

DON"T :naughty:
1. Use the tip of your hex wrench to "poke" a hole in the tire (it is much more likely to tear over time).

Thanks for the tips guys. I used a #58 drill (0.042"). Pushing a driver through all that urethane(XPG221215) looked like a lot of work. :lol:
