I always liked this car. Mine is worn out......needs new wheels and it's not pristine like this one...too many laps on it. But I like the NC-1 power so if you are dumping the motor, let me know.... :lol:
Not sure about the collector value. People are putting insane prices on these old Ninco cars IMHO. They are nice and fun to run, but not $80 - $120 worth of fun.

I have to agree. It's a nice car all right, but I would tune it and enjoy it. Mine is an old warrior too but never regret the fun it brings on the track.

I got it for $50 and the NC-1 motor is for sale. I looked like it had almost zero time on it judging by the braids and rear tires. I'll think about what I want for the motor. Maybe a swap for a slot.it orange endbell motor.

I have shelf Queens of this model and others but also have race versions too! If you got it used,as I am thinking because of the price, RACE it!
As for the running gear Throw it out use Slot it components. They wake up after removing the sub par Ninco running gear.
As for the collectable aspects, you see the prices on Sleeze bay dictating the values.
I have found that the value of a collectable is what someone is willing to pay for it.

I appreciate the suggestions from everyone. Even though the car came in the original case with the cardboard sleeve it had been removed and probably driven a few laps. Only if it was very rare would it have any collector value and since all but a very few of my slot cars get driven as often as I can get around to it this one will be active.

The wheels, to be honest, look very plasticy. I will probably end up either replacing them or at least painting them. I can't find any inserts that match the style and even though there is a set of CB design wheels that are close it seems that all the online stores are sold out of the red ones.

There is a reason the wheels look plastic.....because they are. Just like the Flys, you have to true them. And collar them to keep them from splitting (which is what happened to mine).
It's a pretty car that should be run. Tune it and enjoy it.

There are plenty of plastic wheels that look like what they are supposed to, and I always true plastic wheels before I even put a new car on the track. These kind of look semi translucent as is.

I think it's pretty sharp looking. If the wheels run true I wouldn't worry about them.

The mold is pretty long in the tooth, and so is the car. The Ninco McLarens used to be a hot property, and they aren't nearly as hot any more.

When Team USA got back from the Silverstone in 2008, that car was the gift we got for one our new British friends. He'd gone WAY out of his way to help us get to the airport on a very early Sunday morning, and it just so happened that he collected the Ninco McLarens. This was the last one he didn't have, so when we got back to the States I tracked it down and surprised him with it. At the time, it was something like $130 NIB. Today, it's probably a little more than half that, and if it's already out of the box, make a runner out of it.

Yeah, and paint the wheels. They look like crap. :banana-dance:

This is what I did for the rims on my Gulf car, added tire branding too, and a bit of touch up on the paint.

Marty your F1GTRs look very good. I just bought a partial slot.it nissan R390 white kit and have cannibalized the running gear to install in the Ninco chassis. I thought about cutting the chassis to accept the slot.it motor pod but for now I just installed the slot.it components in the Ninco chassis. I'll paint the slot.it wheel inserts orange and use them until such time as the MrSlotCar version comes out and replacement inserts will be available. The car runs great with the slot.it components but due to being almost 10 gms. heavier than the slot.it F1GTR it turns a somewhat slower lap.
