both technoslot and protoslot have tried to supply a reliable chassis for the scale guys. have they succeeded??? were they trashed by the forums?? the 1/43 guys talk big but they are small in numbers. also small wallets.

Here's my :twocents-twocents: worth. It appears to me that Carrera is the only 1:43 left standing on 2 legs. Their track is beyond compare, and their cars for whatever they may be are beyond a price point approach. That being said any $40.00 chassis before freight is in the ball park of the $80.00 Spirit. Considering that there must be close to a doz. companies producing 1:32 cars without a track system does Kyosho really need a track? Now to the point of getting 1:43 into the mainstream. Economics: Carrera is producing a decent enough 1:32 for $32.00. Can a reasonable facsimile 1:43 be produced for that MRSP? Logistics: 1:43 needs to be standardized with 1:32, ie. 0.093 axles with snap in bushing and press on plastic wheels (that run true). This will ease transition to the smaller scale, both for hobbiest and producer. Supply: 1:43 needs an SCC 43 :lol:. In the past we had a good supply of motors from SCE (rip Kihm) now we are scratching for motors. We had a good supply of urethane tires (IIRC the gent retired) now tire selection is spotty. Peters chassis are state of the art and readily available @ $12.00 + each, which is a bargain for what they are and can do to the cars performance. RD is producing wheels and gears which considering the labor involved to machine these parts should also be considered a deal. Then there is the matter of a rather significant selection of scale correct reasonably detailed light weight bodies with interiors. However all these individual parts with their attached freight bills sure do make that $32.00 1:32 Carrera look mighty appealing even with it"s attached freight bill. So gents, what do we need to do to produce a competitively priced comparably performing 1:43? Like I said this is how I see it.

We need more of these open discussion posts from all of the posters and dudes in the click that actually know whats happening so we`re not frustrated with the big boys and their products,Thanks Dave!

okay now we need the resin venders to lay some info on us about getting the bodies lighter,how about it Alan,TransAm and who ever else is dabblin in the resin,come on guys we`ve got a good discussion going here but we need to touch all bases!

So people to get an idea of where to direct this rolling ball that we've started. Should our focus be on our scratch building or the production of a decent RTR car? What level of product should we be looking at Kyosho, Fly, Scaly, Pioneer, Slot-it etc.? What price point should we be looking at? Should we be trying to locate a consistent reasonably priced source for our parts? It's a pretty safe bet that Carrera's quality per price point is unreachable and that an $80.00 1:43 car won't be flying off the shelves.

Mas, I also feel that Kyosho is very close to the mark. If they were to produce a Slot-it similar car with a similar MSRP and have it function identical to an OOTB Slot-it I would be all over it. I think that part of the Kyosho problem is that their OOTB performance is not as good as it could be, especially for a novice or someone expecting to put a new car on the track and have it perform similar to any quality built 1:32 car. The cars go like greased lightning but also handle the same way without some adjusting and I feel a lot of people may be unwilling to tinker with a brand new upscale car especially when a $15.00 Carrera generally only needs the braids adjusted. The other thing that may have hurt repeat sales is I wonder how many people bought these cars expecting them to run off of the stock go walwart and turboboost controller. I just checked the ammeter and it takes 270-300Ma just to cruise and over 400Ma to go to WOT.
