Revell/Monogram

It appears that this company has all but vanished? Any place that you folks know of to still get car parts? I've checked the usual suspects such as:

BRS, SCC, eBay, Electric Dreams, Fantasy World, etc.

Although, I did find some parts, here and there, could not find what I'm looking for (a half magnet), anywhere.

They announced several months back that they were leaving the slot car market. There was talk at the time that Professor Motor was in negotiations to take over some or all their slot car business but I haven't heard anything more since. Old stock from dealers or the Bay is about it for Monogram slot car products these days.

On a more positive note, according to the posting on slotcarillustrated ( http://www.slotcarillustrated.com/porta ... hp?t=78421 ) - it appears as though Professor Motor has apparently reached an agreement to restart production of some (all?) of the cars. Based on what was noted in the thread, the chassis / drive line may be changing - so depending on what you need that may not be of any help...

Revell/ Monogram never did provide much in the way of spare parts when they were active, so it's quite possible that yo'ull need to look for alternative solutions in any case.

After the announcement from Professor Motor, it has been very quiet. I'm not sure what that means.

As for spares, there were some in the original releases such as gears and wheels for the Daytonas and Corvettes but nothing really after that.

If you are only looking for a magnet, perhaps another could be substituted?

Thanks ShotgunDave, but I have the original magnet installed. I was hoping to find a half strength (or half magnet), to try. I think Fantasy World used to sell them years ago, (and probably other hobby stores as well)? I like running with magnets, but the Revell cars I own, have magnets in them that are waaaay too strong.

Flytoo, Have you thought of simply shimming your magnet up further from the rail? Or put a sheet of cardboard or styrene between in the pocket between the magnet and the rail to act as a shield. The Monogram Magnet pocket is pretty flexible in that way.

I have always liked the Revell/Monogram bodies, but the chassis have held them back. I believe that Andy has enough of a commitment to slot racing to put a good chassis underneath and making them competitive again. Great news and good luck. I'll be looking for a runable Cobra Daytona Coupe and the King Cobra. I really hope your endeavor goes well.
