Patience does pay off sometimes

As I have said before the big reason why I only have a few NSR slot cars is the price. So I watch for sales and check ebay periodically for deals. Over the weekend an ebay seller was auctioning off several new NSR slot cars and a Ford GT40 Mk II white kit was only at about $35 so I put in a bid. Late last night I found I had won the auction at only $62. So, I will be adding another NSR to my stable.

They are so smooth and fun to drive - but then so are Ninco cars with NC-1 in them

glad I own a few but I rarely get to race them - the one time I raced my 917k I set the track record won easily and broke the rear light assembly in a crash - haven't raced it since :)

I'm curious to find out head to head how it stacks up against the slot.it Ford GT40. I'm sure Marty will oblige me with one of his.

Head to head I find the NSR faster most days. HL runs the Slot.it GT40 and I the NSR. Not bothered to do much to it yet because on my track it doesn't get a chance to open up at all.

So what's the "HOT" setup for the fast or really fast Slot.it GT40? Gearing, motor etc... thanks! :) I assume it handles well!

Congrats Modelerbob! Sounds like a great deal on a great car. Although, I've yet to see an NSR car, "in the flesh" let alone drive one. But, after all of the good things recently posted about them, I think a friend of mine is about ready (if he hasn't already done so), to pull the trigger on one. I think I'm way more excited about it than he is! :banana-dance:

Florida_Slotter, I think you may have just provided the perfect way for me to explain to my wife, why I must purchase yet, another slot car. "Honey, I really need to buy an NSR to do some pseudo-scientific testing." Man, that sounds good! :lol:

Seriously, you provided a lot of good NSR info. I never took a real hard look at one, due to pricing. Then, a few days ago, someone posted that they can be bought reasonably, as deals do come along. (Just like bibbster said. BTW, great score bibbster! Congrats! AND, thanks for the motor change tip as well.)

I really love your description of "silky smooth and just purred along, very quietly." Now that's my idea of a very desirable slot car. I really hope that the motor pod change takes care of the wheel hop problem. Please keep us posted.

I just got the Gulf Aston Martin. With normal tuning one of my fastest cars. I picked up mine at Top Slots and Trains in England. After the removal of VAT, their price for NSR is about $82, shipped.

The Ford GT40 Mk II white kit arrived today. The body comes in white and black plastic. Initially I was anticipating decaling over the white plastic and then clear coating everything. Now since I will be painting it I will do a little mixing on liveries. I bought some decals from Jim Heller and they look very good. They are intended for a Mk I that was painted white. The essex wire #5 car 1966 at Monza. Later they switched to a Mk II but it was gold and the livery was a little different. I will be using the decals anyway as I am not that much of a stickler for historical accuracy. I will post images when I am done.
