Took the Grandkids to Hobbytown

Postby ccobra » Sun Jul 27, 2014 7:12 pm

Today I took the grandkids to Hobbytown in Fresno. That track really puts mine to shame with its 150 foot spread. What really surprised me was how well my scratchbuilt ran compared to the SCX Cuda, Scalectric Mustang and a Slotit GT40. Unfortunately the last three need to go in for repairs due to getting some flight time in. The Scratch built had a Parma Deathstar motor and I was able to open it up on the straights which I can't do on my little home track. And thanks to the Marty the mind has been running on overtime on a new chassis. Thanks to him I am going to try out one of those wire chassis. But the grandkids and myself had a really good time there today with the larger track.

Im sure the grandkids were happy. Not sure how happy the wallet was? :D . A deathstar at 12v would really be hauling the mail, compared to a scaly or SCX. Your comparing 40K plus rpm and 300 plus g.cm of torque compared to about 20k and 100g.cm of torque. You can run a deathstar on your home track? Awesome!!

I guess with the deathstar motor in my car means it has a Big Block? Wow, I could tell the Deathstar was fast but I didn't realize how fast it was. Thanks for the information. It runs fine on my home track but i usually have to turn the voltage for the lane I have it on. I running three power units that put out 7A @ 13.8 volts with a DC motor control on each lane.
