Old A.C. Gilbert '40 Ford Jalopy ?

Postby Ralphthe3rd » Thu Aug 21, 2014 10:53 am

Question, will those old 1/32 scale Gilbert '40 Ford Jalopy body, pass for 1/43 ? FYI- I owned one of those Gilbert Auto-Rama Sets a half dozen years ago, but sold it later for profit- D'oh !....but I always thought those Jalopy's looked pretty dang small to be called 1/32, and always thought they looked like "O" gauge or 1/43 ? Has anyone converted those bodies to a 1/43 chassis like an Artin ?
I saw the following Body below- converted, but wasn't sure if it was on a 1/43 chassis? I didn't know if the chassis shown converted, wasn't 1/32, coz I'm normally an HO guy, but have been tinkering with 1/43 Artin Lately

Max length for 1/43 - 4 inches, max width 2 inches (or even 1 3/4). Wheelbase between 50 and 75 mm.

I have some of those Gilberts I would say they are about 1/35 scale, not even really close to 1/43.

The gilberts are way off for 1/43,I use to have a business card of the guy that made the old modified stadium coupes like in the picture of NERF`S but its history,I did send TRANSAM a nice 1940 ford diecast to be used as a mold, make contact with him and see when he`s gonna pour it!

Yeah-yeah, I now know the Gilbert is too BIG, and kinda Expensive too, since it appears to be HIGHLY Collectable !
BUT, the good news is, I found a site selling the Toy Jalopy's like Nerfbarz used....and I just ordered two of them > http://www.ballparkproductions.com/vrc.htm BTW- if you order them, the site owner is leaving on Vacation tomorrow, so it'll be a week until he gets back, but I got my order in on time tonight, so it'll be shipped out first thing in the morning :text-goodpost:
