The Racer wire wheels are actually BRM wheels, and they now come in 16" scale size for those old classics. Sweet!

I don't even want to think of the money I've spent on bling parts, but then again I have some neat cars from the expenditure. I have no one to blame except myself. :lol:

The wheels look great. How well do the tires perform? Do they have good grip compared to PG tires?

Not too bad. They are decent rubber for those that like to run rubber. In fact, likely the nicest compound for what they are I have tested in a long time.

But they won't stick like a PG.

Thing is with a RTR car - you know you are going to have to do something to it and probably spend some dollars....

With a resin kit - while you may end up paying as much if not more - I think of it more in terms of what I get back out of it - the feeling of knowing you put it together yourself, the uniqueness of the car and all that....

same with the special wheels - I can buy plastic 'wire' wheels for 1/4 the cost of 'metal' ones - I mostly go for the metal ones - generally only when I need to paint the wheels or will I use plastic 'wires' because they metal just look better

I'm happy to be halfway. Repaints on RTRs. A little from column A and a little from column B. Still get something unique in the end but a little faster.

Here in Barcelona it's not difficult to buy a RTR car for 15/30 eu. So if you only look at the price scratch building have no sense!

I have come to accept 3 rules.
1. Never keep invoices (it's best if you don't know)
2. You will get far more pleasure from something you make or modify than something you buy RTR
3. As far as addictions go, slot cars are one of the cheaper ones, so as long as your having fun (that apparently incudes tearing your hair out when the thing you are building goes horribly pear shaped) that's the main thing.

Did I mention not to keep the invoices ....

This car has a resin body on a Slot.it HRS2 chassis with a Slot.it 21K motor. The total cost was about $135 plus shipping.

I know many people get upset when slot cars are out of scale. But, it is probably a good thing that slot car prices are not a 1/32 scale reflection of real racing car prices. Yeah, slot cars are pretty inexpensive, to my mind. I can give you cost examples from the world of high fidelity stereo that will shock you. Just ask.
