Carrera 1/32nd Scale F1
Mercedes-Benz F1 W05 Hybrid - Ferrari F14T

Fans of this series should be excited. Even those of you who do not share that enthusiasm for the series should take note. Because regardless of how you feel about F1 models, you likely will appreciate these efforts by Carrera.

I am one of those who do not share that passion for the 1:1 series, but I certainly enjoy a nice slot car. And these latest rides are certainly that and more. The attention to detail and overall finish on these cars is just something almost any slot car enthusiast will appreciate.

The paint work is exceptionally done. From small markings on the mirrors to actual details on the driver's helmets. It's so fine that you cannot appreciate it unless you really look close. Which I found myself doing quite often. Perhaps I sound like the old man I am, but it seems like yesterday when detail level like this was only dreamed about.

I will let you enjoy the video which sums it all up. Overall I am very pleased with these models and look forward in racing them.

Mechanically speaking these cars have not changed much since our last set back in 2013. 8 tooth pinion and 27 tooth crwon gear and standard slimline motor. As I said, some do not care for the guide placement, but it does not bother me. They run well enough and the last set proved it to me even if I had any doubts.

Dula bar magnets really keep these models pinned to the track. You can take the shims out to increase this action, but I douby many of you will want to.

Once removing the 4 screws, take care with the rear of the car. You need to push up as shown to release the body.

You need to remove the circuit board in order to gain access to the front magnet. Press up on the clip and the board can safely be moved out of the way. Then a small flat tip can pry out the spring tension bracket that holds the magnet in place.

4 x 16 Routed MDF 3 Lane - Satin Latex Paint Surface
Slot Car Corner Braid - Pyramid 26KX Power Supply
Difalco Control - Trackmate Timing

The timing for this could not have been better. My son is home visiting and he has literally grew up around slot car racing. He was certainly eager to help Dad out with out road test.

Paul Gage makes tires for these cars and the fit is as good as it gets. Just a little sanding is needed to get that "sweet spot" of a contact patch.

As you can guess, we like these cars. But what's not to like? They are attractive models that run very well right out of the case. Combine that with the budget friendly Carrera price point and it's not a hard sell. Although not my favorite style of racers, these F1 models were FUN as I expected and for that I am glad we added them to our stable.
