SIP 2018 Final Thoughts

PROXY Racing! A place to post race events, rules, reports & general information.

Greetings From Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley has been in operation in it's "Current" configuration for only a year but the general design has been going on for 4 yrs. It is 100' digital designed with a 22' long straight with enough twisty to keep the power hungry cars at bay. Median lap times are in the low to mid 10's. All cars are modified 1/24 Carreras with a variety of different motors.

The cars started to arrive Saturday but since the track is primarily a cooler weather run track the cars had some difficulty getting any traction. The track crews were busy most of the weekend getting it in shape and by the end of today 5 cars reported that they are good and just needed minor tuning before race day. 3 cars reported they were still too loose and needed more time. They should be up and running in the next day or two. Once I'm sure that they can be brought into the fold the final list will be posted. Other cars have volunteered but I want to run a specific car vs car. :shhh:

Porsche RSR Vs Corvette

Postby dw5555 » Mon Jul 09, 2018 5:43 pm

All the cars have reported that they are in the final state of tune and are ready for team owners. The Porsche RSR are great handling cars but most are overpowered in the straights by the Vettes. Don't count out the older C6's as they have been running the circuits for awhile and have all the bugs worked out.

Times ranged from a blistering 10.10 to a 10.45. The times are not that important as mechanical plays a big role. I've seen teams ignored by the computer and others not so lucky. An example is clearing the pits after fixing an issue only 1/2 lap later having another issue and having to return to the pits.
Issues: Hopefully your mechanics are on their game.
Tires....Speed drops 30% and takes 4 seconds to clear in the pits
Brakes..No speed penalty but you cannot drive this course w/o brakes. 6 seconds to clear in pits.
Mechanical: Huge NO NO. Speed drops 60% and takes 8 seconds to clear. If you see this the race might as well be over for you. Unless everyone gets it.

Race will be 5 minute heats so that should give us 28-30 laps ideally. (Yeah right)
1st heat will be RSR vs Vette. The 4 knocked out are done and will be positioned by laps run.
2nd heat will be by draw. The 2 losing will also be positioned by laps run and placed above the previous 4.
3rd heat winner take all.

Pick away gentleman, no need for any order.

Privateer C6 for Slothead Racing. We're into the 'Think Global - Buy Local' mentality. Local guys will know how to party when wed get to the top of the podium.
