Our local boys Clem and Slim are a little disappointed that they won't be needed. They don't have the knowledge or speed to handle all these high powered machines. They have worked on the Privateer C6 though and have found a few extra ponies. They are a little slow though as they have been trying to get that Viper motor in the 55 Chev for over a year now.

What a great looking track and cool approach with the "mechanicals"!
The Ohio boys will go with some good old Chevy power with the "CHEVROLET RACING C7" #3 car!

Hopefully Dewman will chime in today. It's been a couple of days since he's signed in. I have the time and would like to run this tomorrow. Otherwise is may be a week before I can get back to it.

We are a go for tomorrow. Temps in the low 90's and clear. Mrs Boss set up the initial lineup by cars she liked. I should have enough time to run best 2 out of 3 and give mechanical failure enough time even itself out. That's not likely though as in practice today the dreaded mechanical failure popped up twice on the same car and didn't touch any of the other cars. Another car had 2 tire failures within a lap of each other. Some cars actually ran clean. Let's see what they do in competition. Get your teams ready boyz this is going to be grueling.

INITIAL LINEUP:

RSR Bertulli Vs C6 Vodafone
Downundathunda Vs Racing Bandit

RSR Gulf Vs C7 Chevrolet Racing
Cat Racing Vs T-County Lugnuts

RSR Bitcomet Vs C6 Privateer
DMS Racing Vs Slothead Racing

RSR Flying LIzard Vs C6 Compuware
Oregon Donors Vs D&D Motors

Best 2 out of 3, top 4 moving on. Bottom 4 will be positioned by laps run in their best race.

Let the games begin. :banana-dance:

Well 1st round is in the books and what a difference a day makes. The track was like driving on ice today. The Porsches were just plain brutal today but the problem was putting all that new found power to the ground. One car had to have different tires to put on it was so bad.

RSR Bertulli Vs C6 Vodafone
1st Race:
Bertulli was struggling out of the gate. Tires would not grab at all. The power was there but it was too much for the track to handle. With 1 tire failure during the race it was one of the cleanest races of the day.
24.9 laps with best lap 10.889

Vodafone was a little down on power but the handling was great allowing for an easy drive. However it was plagued with mishaps. 2 Tire failures, 1 brake failure and a 1 mechanical failure. Luckily even with the failures the easy driving nature allowed for a squeaky win.
25.3 laps with a best of 10.537.
Winner Vadofone

2nd Race:
Bertulli was so disappointed with his car he had the tires changed for the 2nd race. The tires inproved traction greatly but was still loose at the upper limits. With the power now being sent to the ground they encounted 2 tire and 2 brake failures hurting their overall time.
25.8 laps with a best of 10.136

Vadofone was confident in his first win went back out and ran another consistant race. Power is still down but the mechanical failures were limited to 1 tire and 2 brake failures.
26.7 laps with a best of 10.432
Overall Winner Vadofone

RSR Gulf Vs C7 Chevrolet Racing
1st Race:
Gulf was fast out of the gate and never looked back. It was a tough drive at the upper limits causing a couple of close calls almost running off the road but they held on to it. With only 1 brake failure they were feeling good about themselves.
27.5 laps with best of 10.433

The C7 had it's challenges but was well planted only drifting at the extreme edges. Chevrolet had a few issues though that needed to be sorted out. They had 1 tire, 2 brake and 1 mechanical failure keeping them from the winners circle.
26.6 laps with a best of 10.369
Winner Gulf

2nd Race:
The Gulf team got their act together and found some more power and put together some impressive times even with a little loss in traction. However the added power cause some issues with 2 tire failures, 1 brake failure and the dreaded mechanical failure which hurt overall.
26.5 laps with a best of 10.053

Chevrolet kept things the same and tried driving a little more cautiously to try and keep breakage down. They were still plagued with a brake and a mechanical failure but the tires held together long enough to eek out the win.
26.7 laps with a best of 10.336
Winner C7

3rd Race:
Gulf pulled out all the stops and ran an almost flawless race with only 1 tire failure
29.75 laps with a best of 9.931 :o

Chevrolet only hope to beat the Gulf would be to run a clean race and push the car. It looked like the C7 might pull it off as a little bit of extra speed was found but a blown tire in the last 10 secs sent them into the pits and ruined any chances for a win.
28.3 laps with a best of 10.152.

Overall Winner Gulf

RSR BitComet Vs C6 Privateer
1st Race:
The BitComet was the only Porsche that appeared down on power compared to the others. The handling was good but it had 2 tire issues, 1 brake and 1 mechanical failure during the race to keep it from being competitive.
26.5 laps with a best of 10.441

The Privateer having benefited from Slim and Clem's tune up prior to the race and was left alone by Slothead's team had ample power and the handling was good also. With only 1 tire and 1 mechanical failure during the race they pulled ahead to an easy victory.
27.9 laps with a best of 10.109
Winner C6

2nd Race:
Mechanical failures still plagued the Bitcomet team with another mechanical failure and a tire failure. They were consistant in there times but it wasn't enough to pull ahead of the Privateer team.
26.7 laps with a best of 10.426

Privateer was on it's game with consistancy being the key. Speed was good and handling was great giving tham an easy win over Bitcomet even with 2 tire failures and 2 brake failures.
27.8 laps with a best of 10.085.
Overall Winner C6 Privateer

RSR Flying Lizard Vs C6 Compware
1st Race:
When you're on you game you can't be touched. The Lizard just plain tore up the track with it only being a little loose at the upper end. With 1 tire failure, 1 brake failure and 2 mechanical failures it still managed to smoke the Compuware C6. To top it off with the tire failure the driver missed the pits and had to drive another lap at reduced power. Truely awsome.
27.5 Laps with a best of 9.899

Compuware thought they had a good car with great handling but they couldn't touch the Lizard's raw power. With only 2 tire failures in the race they still couldn't make up the deficit.
26.5 Laps with a best of 10.204
Winner RSR Lizard

2nd Race:
The Lizard slowed a touch for the 2nd race but still had 2 tire failures and 2 brake failures leaving the door ajar for Compuware.
27.5 Laps with a best of 9.924

Compuware turned it up a notch going for broke and hoped the car would hold together. With only 1 brake and 1 tire failure they gave it their best but lost by 1 foot.
27.4 Laps with a best of 10.129

Overall Winner RSR Flying Lizard

Since we still have 2 Porsches and 2 Corvettes left we will continue the theme tomorrow. Mrs Boss will again assign the cars. The C6 Vodafone team is going to work through the night and see if they can come up with some more power to make up the 1/2 second deficit they are currently in compared to the other teams. The other teams are happy with their results with the Porsche teams just plain ecstatic with their sub 10 second times. Let's see how forgiving the track is tomorrow. The C6's have their work cut out for them.
Victors:
RSR Gulf and RSR Flying Lizard
C6 Vodafone and C6 Privateer

Stay Tuned,
Boss Dave

The Ohio boys, with Goodyear in their back yard were shocked by the tire failures! The Goodyear tech rep took one of them back with him for "analysis" - but it looks like the crew will be on the side lines watching the older vettes try to bring home the win for Chevy!
