To be honest, I don't know. It had a real nice gloss finish when I went to bed and when I woke up the future looks like broken glass. It happened to me one other time on a project that I didn't really care, but this one I want it to look good. I've never stripped the future with ammonia before and I'm a little nervous about doing it, especially so close to the beginning of the proxy.

Chris,
I`ve had decent luck removing future with warm water, but each time it was just after the aplication. Not sure if will still desolve after a day or so. May be worth a shot.

The instructions on the bottle say to dilute ammonia, and strip it off. I would dilute in hot water, and try it, then increase the strength of the ammonia until it works. But do not dunk it. Just gently wipe it with the solution with a smooth cloth. You don't have to strip it completely, after all, just the bad parts. You're going to recoat it with Future anyway. Don't forget to get all the ammonia solution off before recoating.

I tried future once and I had the same thing happen. I was told the paint wasn't cured.....

Here is the best picture I can get of it. Notice what looks to be scratches, they are all over the body.

Gameover- it's possible the paint wasn't completely cured because I applied the future over a clear coat after about 24 hours. I normally wait 48 hours.

I've decided not to take the chance stripping the future. I just don't want to take the chance of having to repaint.

I think that's what I would decide, too.

I've had it happen several times. Re-dip the body - the Future will re-level. If not, Windex takes it off.

Could not find my Petty Superbird so into the alcohol bath went the #99 Paul Goldsmith GTX. It will be repainted as the #43 Petty Belvedere. Paint and chassis work tomorrow. I have all the decals but the roof decal so I'll cut the numbers out of a STP roof decal and hope it looks alright. I might be able to order them and still get it in the mail by Wednesday but I don't want to take that risk.

The old Dodge body I've been saving finally has some new life. First scratch build so I tried a sidewinder, we'll see how that turns out. A bit more tweaking and she'll be on the way.

That's a great chassis match to that body. The weight is in just the right spots, and the sidewinder makes the weight work at its best for you. Really good work. I like the looks of it, too!

The Richard Petty #43 1960 Plymouth Fury is safely tucked in its hauler and en route to Fontana, err Sun Valley. It set out a couple days later than planned, but hopefully get there in time. Mail going south is always faster than coming north.

Let the fun begin, eh?
