I had a big setback with one of mine. The design of that chassis makes it much faster going backwards as rear wheel drive, not what I had in mind.

I don't think mine will be competitive anyway, as I kept the wheels to scale limits. Some of these are a scale 20 inches tall or thereabouts. I stayed below 13 inches, the wheel size of a Caterham, which will just fit under a Mini, but is really crowded. The other car has scale 10 inch wheels. Just my preference for how they look.

Hogan and Lister, they look great.

Rob front wheel drive puts them way ahead , however they go.

David, I'm still racing to get the Hornet paint sorted out, and looking for guaranteed rapid mailing service. Stickers should be ready on Monday - and did the Hornet body shell get there yet? the last one only took 4 days. Maybe the USPS got a backlog after the government shut-down.

Well.... I DEFINITELY got behind on my build!
BUT! Today I am back to making progress!
The idea of using the Carrera Go wheels and tires, while "free" as I had them here - turned the project on it's head as I ran into issues trying to get a chassis built around press on wheels without having clip in bushings, while still being able to adjust gear lash (I didn't have any slot-it type gears around - only standard "non-capturing" type...
Soooo - chassis attempt #1 was finally scrapped today as I decided to go with set screw wheels...

Which led to the next issue - at this late hour - I didn't have time to order wheels / tires! So after a lunch break, it was back to the drawing board and the "spares" pile!

I have to say, what came out of it looks to have promise! It is going to allow me to use the Carrera Go! tires and wheels up front and tires with the wheels turned down on my dremel (have to get a mini lathe one of these days!) as inserts in the rear. The rear wheels are from some worn out JK8721P large hub tires that I removed around 3/16" of width from. All in all, I am pretty happy with how they turned out as it will still allow the car to have the "scale" size tires - but will fix my issue with not being able to come up with a good robust rear axle set up. :)

Now I can get back to chassis design!

[Wolseley Hornet]

Defeated by the weather!

I had hoped to get a Hornet done in time for 1st December, but after a painting disaster, it's just too cold and humid here to get the paint to dry quickly - and even given time, it blooms.

So no second entry from me, I'm afraid. I'll post a picture of the Hornet when it's done.

I can relate on the paint! I REALLY should have focused on the body back a bit ago. I ended up painting mine in the garage and then bringing it in the house... without using a primer coat... In order to try to have "some" color on it before shipping out. It may not be pretty - but my plan is to ship it out Friday! :)
Speaking of which - ShotgunDvae - if you can PM me the address to ship it to, I'd appreciate it!

I'm out. Too much to do to get finished. As I say, though, mine wouldn't have been much fun with the scale sized wheels. I thought I might make up the difference with gearing, but it doesn't work. After the holidays, I'll get on it and finish them up. I'll post them then.
