Thanks to all the teams for making your selections.

Starting grid:
1) # 28 - Pioneer Mustang, Dave's Dollies
2) # 11 - Scalextric Camaro, Thunda Downunda
3) # 17 - Pioneer Mustang, CAT Racing
4) # 15 - Pioneer Camaro, Racing Bandit
5) # 2 - Scalextric Javelin, Oregon Donors
6) # 6 - Scalextric Javelin, TC Lug Nuts
7) # 1 - Scalextric Javelin, Slothead Racing

The starting order is based on inverted qualification times. The # 1 Javelin's time was 50.929 (110.27 mph) and the # 28 Mustang had a time of 51.276 (109.53 mph). Basically, I just use a slowed down timer to represent realistic times for completing a 1.56 mile lap on a road course. The overall lap time difference from 1st to 7th is just 0.347 seconds.

The race plan: to keep things interesting SIP Race 5 will be run as 3 short races, each 25 laps long. After each race the finish order will be inverted for the next race. The overall winner for this event will be the best average finish position or most points. Ties will be broken using wins or finish position in the last race. The goal is to have the final outcome still up for grabs at the start of race # 3.

All of the needed lap data is already in the database, so there's nothing left to do but drop the green flag. I'll do one race a day starting tomorrow or Thursday.

Team Thunda mechanics and engineers have been hard at work tuning the Legz 11 Camaro for this sprint race format. Our drivers have also had a tune up and are ready to get behind the wheel and get the job done. Drop the flag!!

The Luck still holds. The difference however slight still shows I'm in the slowest car again. Gonna need some serious driving to pull this one out. :auto-driving:

We're considering giving Helen the wheel. It's like the mechanics race. Only without mechanics.

It was a chilly day at Shelby-Hendrix Speedway so it was decided to provide a BBQ and concert for the fans who arrived early in their campers for this 3 day racing spectacular. While the infield party was keeping everyone entertained a different group of 7 cars took to the track to lay gown some rubber and give the track stewards feedback.

The cars found the track to be fast and to have a lot of grip, keeping things close. All is set for SIP Race 5 part 1 to get underway tomorrow, as the stewards consider any last minute enhancements to stir the pot a bit.

7 Trans Am muscle cars are primed and ready to unleash a few thousand ground pounding horsepower when the green flag waves. Best wishes for a restful night to all the teams and fans.

As the cars assembled for the start of SIP Race 5 part 1, a timing issue was discovered. While it took less than an hour to fix the problem it was determined the fairest thing to do was let the cars return to their pit stalls so the engine fluids could cool down and allow the teams time to adjust their cars for changing weather conditions. With evening approaching the race was postponed till tomorrow when it could be run in full daylight.

SIP Race 5 part 1

Starting grid:
1) # 28 - Pioneer Mustang, Dave's Dollies
2) # 11 - Scalextric Camaro, Thunda Downunda
3) # 17 - Pioneer Mustang, CAT Racing
4) # 15 - Pioneer Camaro, Racing Bandit
5) # 2 - Scalextric Javelin, Oregon Donors
6) # 6 - Scalextric Javelin, TC Lug Nuts
7) # 1 - Scalextric Javelin, Slothead Racing

Don't you just love the sound of race tuned muscle cars primed and ready to race?!

As expected there was close competition with hard fought battles for every position. Time after time cars ran side-by-side through the wider passing sections, but the trailing car could not clear the car it was stalking to complete a pass.

On lap 2 the #2 Oregon Donors' Javelin got by the #15 Camaro of Racing Bandit for 4th place. A few laps later Slothead Racing's # 1 Javelin moved out of last place by passing the TC Lug Nuts #6 Javelin in turn 3. From this point on only the back straight offered a place to pass, and the #2 Oregon Donor's Javelin used it to take over 3rd from the #17 CAT Racing Mustang on lap 12 and then moved into second place by passing the #11 Camaro of Thunda Downunda on lap 21.

With 4 laps to go the leading #28 Mustang of Dave's Dollies was in sight and about to be challenged. On laps 23 and 24 the Oregon Donors Javelin took aim at the leading Mustang on the long straightaway but could not pull off a pass before having to slow for the narrower loop turn. On the final lap Dave Dollies Mustang found a little extra speed, or the hard charging Javelin had used up its tires, and the Mustang opened up a little advantage to score a green to checkered win!

Points for this first of three sprint races were awarded as shown below.

Results (pts):
1) # 28 - Pioneer Mustang, Dave's Dollies (25 pts)
2) # 2 - Scalextric Javelin, Oregon Donors (21 pts)
3) # 11 - Scalextric Camaro, Thunda Downunda (18 pts)
4) # 17 - Pioneer Mustang, CAT Racing (16 pts)
5) # 15 - Pioneer Camaro, Racing Bandit (15 pts)
6) # 1 - Scalextric Javelin, Slothead Racing (14 pts)
7) # 6 - Scalextric Javelin, TC Lug Nuts (13 pts)

The challenge ahead for podium finishers Dave's Dollies, Oregon Donors, and Thunda Downunda, is can they impress coming from the back of the inverted starting order for part 2? The TC Lug Nuts Javelin will be on the pole with Slothead Racing's Javelin second on the starting grid. Racing Bandit will start 4th and CAT Racing will start 5th.

Again our team has a poor performance, middle pack and no podium place!

We´ll try to be focused on the next race , so we´ll go early to bed and forget about BBQ and gigs.

Well we've shown what we can do with clean air. Now lets see if we have the power and skill to come from the rear of the field. Our replacement driver Madison is due up in this rotation so let's see if she can handle the come from behind win. :auto-driving:

SIP Race 5 part 2 - May 18, 2019

Starting grid:

1) # 6 - Scalextric Javelin, TC Lug Nuts (13 pts)
2) # 1 - Scalextric Javelin, Slothead Racing (14 pts)
3) # 15 - Pioneer Camaro, Racing Bandit (15 pts)
4) # 17 - Pioneer Mustang, CAT Racing (16 pts)
5) # 11 - Scalextric Camaro, Thunda Downunda (18 pts)
6) # 2 - Scalextric Javelin, Oregon Donors (21 pts)
7) # 28 - Pioneer Mustang, Dave's Dollies (25 pts)

While Dave's Dollies driver and crew were still being praised for their commanding win yesterday, it was sobering to see the six other Trans Am cars lined up in front of them on the starting grid. At Shelby-Hendrix Speedway holding off a pass can be easier than making a pass, so the #28 Mustang has it's work cut out for it.

As the race got underway the pole sitting TC Lug Nuts' #6 Javelin was off the pace and was pounced on by the entire field, falling to last place by lap 4. Slothead Racing's #1 Javelin inherited the lead and was off and running with the #15 Camaro of Racing Bandit in 2nd. Oregon Donors' #2 Javelin made steady progress through the field and settled into 3rd place. Cat Racing (#17 Mustang) and Thunda Downunda (#11 Camaro) continued their battle for 4th and 5th places throughout the race. At the rear of the field, the TC Lug Nuts' Javelin battled with Dave Dollies' Mustang and after swapping positions a few times TC Lug Nuts claimed 6th place.

Though challenged by both the Racing Bandit and Oregon Donors over the last 5 laps, the Slothead Racing #1 Javelin remained out front for the victory.

Results for Race 5 part 2 (cumulative points) * denotes a wins:

1) # 1 - Scalextric Javelin, Slothead Racing (39 pts)*
2) # 15 - Pioneer Camaro, Racing Bandit (36 pts)
3) # 2 - Scalextric Javelin, Oregon Donors (39 pts)
4) # 17 - Pioneer Mustang, CAT Racing (32 pts)
5) # 11 - Scalextric Camaro, Thunda Downunda (33 pts)
6) # 6 - Scalextric Javelin, TC Lug Nuts (27 pts)
7) # 28 - Pioneer Mustang, Dave's Dollies (38 pts)*

Note that Slothead Racing and Oregon Donors are tied in total points with 39, and Dave's Dollies are just 1 point back in 3rd. Only 12 points separate 1st and 7th place, meaning all cars are still within reach of a final podium finish.

Apparently, the stars are aligning to insure that the #6 Donahue car doesn't get damaged in "aggressive" racing! The team is at a loss as to why the Javelin fails to keep pace - but the crew chief, trying to lighten the mood a bit did remind the driver that he looked great out there running parade laps!
Hopefully the team can find some speed for the next race!

With only a few places to pass I have to say this has to be the most difficult course in the series. The starting grid pretty much stays the same unless there is a driver error or a car malfunction. Our saving grace is that we were last again :angry-tappingfoot: so we start in the front of the pack. Lets see if we can hold it together for one more..
