Almost ready for laps. Front tires are coated. Polish them up tomorrow and glue the body on. Then the balancing act begins. :banana-dance:

I hadn't gotten that far yet (to be looking at the body in detail) - but maybe it is to allow for all the torque we are going to be twisting into these babies? :)

Super glue disaster.

Made a rear valance to help hide the rear post I installed.. and I was was holding the car upside down
and the plan was to just touch the corner of the part I was putting in.. Glue didn't seem to be flowing
well so I put the tiny-est bit of pressure on the bottle and spoooosh... out it came.

Dripped up the rear quarter on to the roof, flowed through the interior to the drivers side front pillar..
passenger door #5 decal is damaged....

Phooey.

Spent 2 hours this morning on body posts, and modding the front spoiler to make the guide work.. and
getting the height right for the wheels to roll... just to screw it up with an uneeded part..

Oh well, life goes on. She won't be the prettiest girl at the prom, but at least she'll be there :mrgreen:

Good point bibbster. I go thru more toothpicks since I got back in this hobby. Usually only takes a dab or two anyway.

Dave, I use plastic cups that are graduated. That way I mix in the cup, peel out the dried resin and they are re-useable. I'll see if I can find the link to where I got them from.

And here is one of those freaky things that happen, that continue to remind me why I wear safety glasses at home (not just at work)...



Was working on doing some polishing on the chassis build and had the commutator on my Dremel blow apart at full song! The piece of commutator took out the bottoms of the brushes and sent the pieces flying out of the vent holes and off my glasses (thankfully the comm piece was too big to leave through the vent and just bounced around in there tearing things up instead). (EEP!)

Thankfully, no damage to anything/anyone other than my trusty / faithful Dremel. Going to see if I can get replacement arm and brushes for it as everything else is still in good serviceable condition... (even though it has tons of hours on it)
If I can't - it looks like it will be Dremel shopping for me this week. :(

In the mean time, it looks like I will have to use my 1/4" drill to keep pushing forward today.

(Not the type of "progress" shot I was hoping to share!)

That is what I am hoping. Mine isn't that old - but I am guessing it is in the 8-10 year range and I have used it a LOT and it has been GREAT up until this happened. :(
Definitely got my attention - but thankfully, the way the unit is designed, the vents are behind where you keep your hand. :)
But WOW - at 35,000rpm when that let go (and continued to run at slower and slower rpm while I fumbled with swiping the speed to zero) - it definitely got my attention!

Looks like she handles pretty darn smooth!

On my end, I've gotten back to work on the chassis and the rear motor pod is now mounted. If all goes well, I will have a chassis that just might move under it's own power tonight! (even if it doesn't have body mounts figured out yet...)
