GVSCC Targa Florio Proxy

[Retro Racer 44]

My last duty for the GVSCC Targa Florio Proxy has been completed. The cars have all been returned to their owners.

The out of town boxes were mailed this morning. The Canadian ones were easy, as I just handed them to the postal clerk and paid the bill. The US and overseas ones all needed a customs declaration to be filled out by hand. This took over an hour. but they are all now in the hands of Canada Post and on their way. The clerk was careful to tell me they would not get there by Christmas, but that is OK and it gave me a chance to explain the contents and proxy slot car racing. The clerk gave me a wad of customs forms so that the next time I can fill them out in advance at home and save time at the PO.

So I expect Canada and US boxes should be to you sometime next week, overseas ones after the new year.

I just received my car today and thank you for all you have done to put on such a wonderful proxy, you have set the bar high for anyone to follow... And thank you to the GVSCC for a job well done, my hat's off to ya...!!!

And thank you to Dart Hobbies for the great set of wheels that I received, as they will come in handy on a future build...

My Alfa T33/3 is back home as of today; along with some nice Quick Slicks and a new BWA slimline motor. Thanks again to all those involved in putting this GVSCC proxy on. It was a great one, for sure! A special thanks also to Keith, for putting this all together, managing it and keeping it moving and exciting for everyone. :text-bravo:

My Ferrari 312 arrived tonight with some cool tires and a discount for LEB hobbies . Thanks to Retro44 (Keith) and the gang at GVSCC for a great proxy!

This was my first ever proxy and got a podium made me very happy!

It also got me to enter the CAN-Am, Trans-AM and HRW Sportsman proxy!

I hope to be in the next GVSCC proxy as well.

On the routing front, my third track is a 4x8 bullring, and hoping to build a road course in 2016 that can host a proxy some day .

I think I confirmed over on the other board that our two cars had returned safely along with some goodies, for which much thanks to the sponsors.

Again, congrats to Keith and his guys up in the frozen north for a really well planned and executed event. We are used toi it taking months to get a series like that done, this event set new standards for speed and coverage.

I'm glad to hear that the cars are showing up at home, some even before Christmas.

There is one more thing I would like to report. Chris Walker, the winner of Class B, has kindly donated his prize, a MR Slotcar.ca McLaren, back to us to award as we see fit. This is a great gesture on Chris's part, and since he left it to me to decide who should receive it, I awarded it to Luf. A huge thank you to Chris for this.

Luf's track building prowess is known worldwide, but you may not know that Luf is the heart and soul of the GVSCC. His garage is the Friday night clubhouse for our group, as we race on the Targa and the hill climb. We also race there one or two Monday nights per month. The various tracks we race on have been built with input from Luf, and he is also the keeper of standings, records and stats of our racing.

A big thank you to Luf for all you do to further slot racing in the Greater Vancouver area and around the world.

I am horrified to see what the postal service did to your poor car. I believe it was insured for $100 so I will dig out the slip and we can put in a claim.

I have been involved in more than a dozen proxies in the last few years, and I have never seen a box so destroyed as that. It looks like it was run over or stomped on by a very big person.

Please don't be done with proxies, though, it could have happened to a new car or one you bought from the forum.
