This shaping up nicely, but I think Halloween may be ambitious, since there are some folks who don't have bodies to build chassis by, and Dave is killing himself trying to get them cast in time. What do you guys think?

Oops. I got the date mixed up with the dirt track trucks. Old people don't keep dates straight very well, I guess. Maybe that's why Congress is such a collection of twits. I thought it was because none of them could pass a 7th grade Civics test.

Started to work on the mini tonight, hogged out the windows a little. Sitting on a PRS chassis right now until I decide which chassis to use or just make my own.

I'm sticking with the scale wheels on at least one of the Minis I'll do. I just can't get used to these big ones you guys are using. They look like a scale 16 or 18 inch to me, and with the tires, they look like they are headed for a fairgrounds to jump over rows of wrecked cars. I realize we're just playing at this, not some serious craziness that ruins the fun, but I just can't get used to how they look. I suspect mine will be slower anyway. So, when mine look funny when we get them all together, now you know its on purpose, not a mistake.

Rob, you mean we are not letting these little buggers go airborn? I know Jeremy likes to jump things and gets pretty good distance too...
All kidding aside, I am still not sure on the wheels and tires although they look ok on the car in person in the pics it look like the thing is ready to go off road with Dave in the mountains of Colorado. I figure they will all just turn into a barrel roll contest anyway. :laughing-rolling:

We will run 4 at a time, 5 minutes in each lane if we have time.

I need to come up with a way the mount the body on the chassis then paint it.

The first ones we saw were so much more sedate than these little monsters. Do they have classes that regulate body mods, or is it dealer' choice for everything?

Class 1 Autograss is stripped out, reinforced, but largely un modified Minis - or was. Even Rover Minis have become a bit too valuable to hammer around a muddy field, so Nissa Micras,Peugeot106's and CitroenAX's are increasingly common. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find even die-casts of these in 1/32.(It seems the 1/43 boys really have it made in this respect, as almost everything is represented as a die-cast in 1/43.)

The idea was that Autograss would be motor sport available to everyone, not just those with huge corporate sponsorship, or ridiculous personal wealth.

In fact, it's not that big a spectator sport, apart from WAGS, and families - most people who watch also participate in some way - - a bit like slot racing really.

As you go up the classes, more and more mods are permissible, and a couple of classes comprise specially-made space frame single seat buggies powered by ridiculously powerful motor bike engines (often more than one). Some of you may have seen a lovely Class8 Autograss car that someone made a couple of years ago on the forum that calls itself international, but seems to be most popular with British modellers.

But none of these mods are inexpensive, so I guess the higher you go up the classes, the less accessible it becomes.( A bit like life, really :angry-soapbox: )

For the purposes of this proxy, it's just going to be anything goes, isn't it?
