With all the other proxies going on or planned right now we may have to rethink the timeline, but I hope people are still interested enough to have a go. Your car looks great and a blem body really does fit the spirit of the P-BOP.

My coupe has been painted now, with bottled black model paint and a brush to give it a
rat rod sort of look. It has an old white end bell Slot.it motor and mismatched wheels, but I think it should be a fun car to drive. Pics soon.

Dave -
That looks right at home on that chassis!
Now that I have the RSR done, I have to put the finishing touches on the Carrera (have a tire chatter issue that has developed?!?) and then will be looking at starting to build for this. May have to look at two separate chassis ideas as I have a couple things I want to try... :D

They look great, Strangebrew, definitely in the spirit of this proxy, and close enough to 1/32 as long as they don't exceed the maximum width.

Can I put you down for two cars? Do you have a track or access to one to host a round?

Since most people are too busy to build slot cars during the summer, I'm thinking we should be looking at November as a start time, but we will play it by ear to suit all participants. I'm flexible on this, and the more the merrier, eh?

Hi Strangebrew;

I think foams coated with silicone would be considered silicone tires. I know from past experience that silicone tires play havoc with tracks that usually run urethane or rubber tires. When run together, neither works well. This is why they are omitted. Urethane and rubber work fine together, but urethane is best.
Paul Gage and others make urethanes in almost any size you may need.

That said, there is no problem with the fact that your track doesn't have a timer or extra drivers, and size is not an issue. If you are still willing, you could run individual timed heats, using one other person to count laps and a digital kitchen timer or stopwatch. You could go say, 9 minutes on the same lane for each car or go shorter heats on different lanes to add up to about 9 or 10 minutes. I want this proxy to be sort of laid back and fun, not cut-throat professional racing. The real cars like this were raced in this atmosphere back in the day.

Let me know if I can add you to the list.

My fault, not paying attention on the rules as usual.

Now we are cookin' with Crisco. I will follow this one.

P-BOP Update

We haven't given up on this idea, and as soon as the flush of current proxies dies down, we will get this going in earnest.

Meanwhile, I took three proxy cars to Luf's Targa track tonight and gave them a good go. The red 34 Ford was by far the fastest getting down to about 8.3 on one lap. The lap record is about 7.0 done with a CanAm Proxy car. My fastest two cars, a Slot.it LMP Lola, and an NSR Porsche 917, I can get down into the high 7s. The black 40 Ford, which is a much heavier car was good to the high 8s, and with more testing I can probably get to the mid 8s. My car for the Nascar proxy was into the low 8s also, but to get that I needed to up the power to 11.5 volts. The others were run at 10v.

We were running our Detroit Iron class tonight, and there were two other 34 Fords, a 32 Ford pick-up, and a 32 Ford coupe that would all qualify for P-BOP.

Harry, good to see we have your attention. I know you have cars that fit this series, so I hope you will plan to enter also.

Keith

Started in earnest on my proxy builds for this (yes - I have two that I want to submit if all goes well and that is still OK?)
I think I have the bodies, wheels and tires all picked out, now to start working on the chassis action later this weekend. :D
This is going to be cool!

OK - mother nature decided that I don't need to continue cutting grass - so here is what I am starting with for my two builds:

Both kits seem a fuzz "small" and will definitely be "snug" in getting the chassis / drive train in there, but I am thinking they should make some cool looking rides once they are done. :)

Either or both of those should be great.

Making good progress on the chassis and in digging through stuff to "re-purpose" - I ran into a question...
I remembered having to trim the blade of the JK guide flag pretty notably to allow the guide to work on "all" the host tracks for one of my previous proxy entries - do any of the intended host tracks have a slot depth less than .223"?

I can't say what the slot depth is on all tracks as we still don't know who will volunteer. All our tracks out here are at least .25" deep and some more. I would say stay away from deep Slot.it or Carrera guides and any other standard guide should work. I use either Ninco suspension guides or SCX Pro guides on most of my scratch builds, but the latter are getting harder to find.
