Ok guys. I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you on some of the rules clarifications. As I said before, Czar is advising on the technical aspects since I'm too much of a novice to know most of them. He is still unavailable but I got a message from him after he had read the thread recently.

As far as guide depth, its okay to trim them, but we suggest not to do so any more than necessary, especially since it doesn't seem like any of the tracks require them to be trimmed.

As for these questions:
"would be "ok" to use spacers/washers/etc to limit side to side axle play?"
and
"Is there a minimum ground clearance requirement? And if so - is it acceptable to "remove" material from the bottom of the chassis?"

We decided that this is beyond what a beginner might understand and might make things more complicated. So let's not allow either of these changes.

Rico - Deadline for entries to arrive is July 15. We haven't given addresses or set the order of tracks yet because we were waiting as long as possible to see what questions may arise as far as rules go and to see if there are any more tracks to run the race on.

Another update:

I just talked to Czar and we've decided to put a deadline of racer entries and track volunteers for May 31. That will give us 6 weeks to set the order of tracks and finalize any other logistics. The first post should be up to date with entries and tracks. If I've missed anything, please let me know.

Deadlines: May 31st is the last day for racers or track voluteers to commit to this proxy.
July 15th is the last day that cars can be received for racing.

We will contact everyone who has signed up to race via PM with the shipping address on June 1st.

So, if anyone is still sitting on the fence, you have plenty of time to enter and work on your car. It is going to be a lot of fun and you really don't want to miss out!

I am sorry that we have amended the rules so many times, but this is the first time either of us has put together a proxy and we simply didn't think of everything. Thanks to everyone who made suggestions and asked about clarifications. We know that more can be done to make the cars run even better. But, our intention is to keep this proxy simple enough that rookies can enter without feeling intimidated. Having said that, I think that we have covered everything so the rules are now set in stone. One other thing is that we are happy to have custom/fantasy liveries so if you want to paint your car... go for it. The only thing is, it must have a number since it is a racing car. Thanks for your patience.

Richard, I think the removal of reverse switch board is similar to the removal of the digital components (allowed) as it is just two screws and reconnect the two plug ends... but we will have to wait for Burrell or Czar to confirm.

We're adding a few more rule additions/clarifications (these are added to the first post). The main purpose in these is to keep it relatively simple for beginners. We know that more can be done to a car, but we don't want to overwhelm anyone.

Any added weight must be inside the car and not visible from the exterior.

Tires and wheels may not protrude beyond the body.

Shaving the chassis is not allowed.

Added spacers on the wheels/axles are not allowed.

Since it is easy enough to remove the guide and slide a washer on the post to make the guide sit deeper, this is allowed.

Front tires may be painted with clear nail polish to reduce grip.

I'm a little surprised over the lack of chassis trimming. Trimming the chassis for body float is one of the very first tuning adjustments taught over here after gluing and truing the tyres.

Also, regarding wheel/tyre protuding from the body. A large majority of cars are released with some tyre visible outside the car's fenders. This is a more difficult fix for a beginner than lack of body float.


This one for me, although at the moment it is sans-wing. Hoping I can fix it.

I'll join the fun. Now to find the wing for my Ferrari. OK I order a wing and rear axle kit for the 575 Ferrari. I ran this in a Carrera proxy years ago and it has a Slot.it rear end in it. The motor has a metal gear on it. Will this need to be replaced with a plastic one if it is a 9 tooth? If it must be a plastic gear can it be a Scaley plastic 9 tooth? If the answer to either of these is no I'll need to order a new Carrera motor with a plastic pinion.
