Phew, finally got my car from Carrera and a set of Paul Gage tires. Now I can start tuning.

Not going to knock the shipping company but they lost the car for ten days. Some hard work on a manager's part and they were able to locate it today.

Time to get to work and get it ready to send off.

OK it seems that what I added earlier was dropped.

I received my stock Carrera Ferrari 575 tires today. The tires are a monstrous 23mm. I had ordered some Supertires for the rear which are only 20mm in diameter. They do have a tire that is 21mm. Paul Gage offers a tire that is 22mm in diameter. The question what diameter must the tires be? On page 5 you can see that TuscoTodd has reduced the size of his front tires. Here is a picture of the 575 in stock form from HRW Archives.




I have sent tires back to SuperTires because the SlotCarCorner tire chart was incorrect. Nick at SuperTires says he doesn't have a tire listed for this car. However he does have a taller tire 21mm. I had asked them to be replaced by a tire that is 20mm Must the rear tire be 22mm or will 20mm be OK. Can the fronts be turned down to 20mm. Nick should receive his tires back Saturday or Monday. I need to know if I need him to change my order to the taller 21mm tire.

Dickie and Steve said they will update the SlotCarCorner Tire Chart. So if anyone else is running the Ferrari 575 do not order the 1003 or 1004 tires. They do not fit the Carrera rims.

Another question, can the body post mounts on the chassis be shaved flat so that there is no sleeve?

I would think that would be perfectly legal since the rules state:
- Chassis may be trimmed for float.
- Body mounting posts may be shortened.

Does the car have to have the mirrows on it? I have 2 accessory kits so if it doesn't come back with them they can be replaced. Car is ready to ship. I'll get a picture today.

Weight must be inside the car. If you use the front magnet cavity and place weight so it does not protrude below the chassis will this be considered legal? Or must the weight be non visible when the car is turned upside down?

Mirrors are nice, but ultimately expendable on slot cars. So, missing mirrors will not count against you. Boy, there are so many nuances in the way people interpret rules, it is impossible to foresee all the possibilities. When/if I do this again I will be better prepared thanks to all of your questions. As long as the weight does not protrude from the bottom of the chassis I have no problem with using the magnet pocket for weight, but nowhere else. But, make sure it is secure so it doesn't come loose, or worse yet, fall out onto the track as that will disqualify the car, at least for that round.
