The Greater Vancouver Slot Car Club is presenting the Targa Florio Proxy.

This proxy will be open to any slot racer from around the world, and it doesn't matter what club or forum you participate in.

Details about the proxy can be found in the pdf attached.

We welcome all of you to submit a car according to the rules and join the fun.

Hi to everyone on HRW. I know you can all turn left, but can you turn right as well?

There is still room for you to join us for the Targa Florio Proxy. At least six races in one location with a minimum of shipping, and therefore less chance of damage en route.

Cars entered can be anything from a stock off the shelf car to the highest scale scratch build. It doesn't matter as long as the car is one that raced in some year of the Targa, and the motor rpm has it in the right class. See the rules pdf in post #1 above.

Pick a class, and a number and join the fun.

A friend of mine, Bob (rleog) mentioned this proxy to me last Wednesday night. This is my kind of race; modeled off a single event and for cars in the era that I enjoy most (50's, 60's 70's), the I really like. It's a lot along the lines of the La Carrera Pan Americana fun run that's going on now.

I'd like to enter an Alfa Romeo T33/3, #34 please. I think it will be in the B class, but it may turn out to be in the A class with a 15,000 rpm upper bracket. I'll have to look at the motor choices more carefully. I've recently become a fan of the lower rpm motors; perhaps it's because the cars that have them are only doing a scale 200 mph, as opposed to a scale 600 mph with the 20-22,000 rpm motors.

Is there a registration thread, so that we can all see who's entered/entering?

Anyway, I'm in with an October 15th due date.

Glad to have you aboard, Allan.

I put you down for #34 in class B. If you do decide to down motor, #34 is still available for class A, so let me know if you do.

At the moment we have 22 entries. I will be posting a list closer to the date. Since some of the entries are racers who don't use the forums, I don't have a handle for everyone. I will work on a list of cars and numbers per class, so people know what is taken.

Wow! I've never seen anything like that............... Looks challenging to say the least............., but fun for sure!

Are urethane tires also the tire of choice on Luf's Targa and Perry's Rocket? Just trying to get an idea what I should be thinking about, in terms of tires, for my car.

Yes, all our club tracks run best on Urethane tires. There are a few members who use high end rubber tires like NSRs, but most of us use the urethane tires that Luf makes in house. Paul Gage tires work well here also, and some use Yellowdogs. We don't use any liquids on the tracks, and no sponge or silicone tires. Given the choice of the harder standard or soft urethanes, we use the standards. All the tracks are copper braid with a minimum 1/4 inch deep slot.

I am hoping that one of the appeal factors for this proxy will be the uniform type of track surface and tire needs. The other is the limited need for shipping. Cars come here, cars go home.

OK The lists that were here are now gone. I have been collecting entries for this thing on four different forums, as well as our local guys, and it has become almost unmanageable. Well at least for an old guy like me. So to simplify I have decided to add the master list as an attachment to this post instead of the lists.

As you look at the list you will see where I have recorded info on each entry. If your entry is missing info, please let me know by post or PM and I will add it in.

One thing I ask is that you check to make sure your entry is in the right class. Class A is small motors, Class B is big motors. If you grew up with 1:1 club or drag racing, this is opposite to some and may be confusing.
