I saw this in another part of the forum. Why all the fuss about legitimatizing motors that are not specified in the rules of the race? Motor specifications were set before most people joined the proxy. You have relied on Robert Livingston's motor list for statistics, but how will those results compare with another torque test with different testing equipment? Frankly if the torque tests are not done precisely as all the other torque tests, how can the results be trusted? How long will you allow challenges to the motor listing to continue? I understand your desire to make the proxy as inclusive as possible, however, the field is full, cars have been built according to the posted rules and now people are looking for exceptions from those rules. This is making the water very muddy.

Czar....

Motor: There are two spec motors for this proxy; an FC can and an FF slimline. The spec. FC motor is the H&R Hawk (manufacturer's spec. = 18,000 rpm / 140 g.cm torque / 6.3 Watts). The spec FF motor is the Policar PMX01 (manufacturer's spec. = 25,000 rpm / 95 g.com torque / 6.0 Watts). These are the preferred motors for this proxy. However, if these motors are not available to an entrant, then ANY commercially available FC-130 or FF-050 motor may be used; as long as it's manufacturer's specs do not exceed BOTH the rpm and torque specs. for the two spec. motors. If the manufacturer's specs are not readily and routinely available for a given motor, then it is not legal for this series.

We are not looking to change the rules as this was the rule to start with.... my simple question was ...will pioneer 18k motor fit or not, and the only criteria to fit were manufactured specs no some test done by someone on unknown number of motors. Example here.... there is a interprovincial race coming with 15 piranha motors drafted between 5 teams... guess what..... that 15 motors were between 21600 to 23900 rpm. Using manufacturer specs is best option and only fair option because I’m pretty sure that between Hawk’s used in this proxy if we test them you will find some motors be +/- 10%or more of spec...
I have pioneers motors laying around and no hawk to use, that’s why I have asked Allan

Happy building

The only reason i posted the Robert Livingstone data on the other thread was to assist a member looking for information on a particular motor.
Not meant to upset anyone.

That is a great looking Lotus 30 there, Charles; one of almost everyone's favorite cars! And, the fact that it's Clark at the wheel makes it even better!

The chassis looks very interesting; a SW slimline motor. With what looks like the triangular structural bracing, that should be a nicely drivable package and with 25,000 rpm on hand, this will likely be one to watch when the flag drops...……..! Nice build.

Looking forward to the yellow stripe, decals and other details as this racer come to life.

Hi Charles, I think the use of the MR Slotcar sidewinder FF050 pod/ Policar motor, will be a good choice for this proxy......at least that is what I am banking on ;)

Cheers

Hi all.

Thanks for the comments about my car. Its initial run was not very good however thanks to the aforementioned rubbing problems (now fixed). I am a bit concerned chassis may be a bit too flexible so real test will be a run on one of our wood tracks at our next race meeting this Sunday.

Agree the Mr. Slotcar FF050 pod seems good. I only found it by accident. My original intention was to use a modified Slot-it in-line pod I made to fit a slimline motor several years ago and never used. "Murphy's Law" stepped in when I wanted it as I could not find. I found it a couple of days ago. You may have also noticed the front axle holder is part of a Slot-it HRS kit.

Body is progressing well with only driver's head/torso, roll bar and decals to complete. Will provide another photo when this work is complete. It will look good at least I hope.

Regards Chas Le Breton (charlesx).

Allthough i avoid slimline motor when i can, especially those with low rpm, your car Chas is light and with a low c.o.g should be fast.Looking forward to the finished body

To answer Doubl-B's question about the clear glue.
This is the stuff I use to make headlights and glue the likes of plastic windows and chrome bits to the body as it will not eat at the paint and can be removed if needed.

Thanks for the information on the clear glue. I'll see if I can locate it or something similar in our craft stores over here!
