Depending on your personality may I suggest a foray into metal chassis? Penelope Pitlane they have both inline and sidewinder laser cut chassis. Super easy as the bends are already etched and they fold accurately along the fold lines.

Might end up as expensive as a "normal" car if you don't already have a donor car but....

That is a great price. They are on ebay starting at $9.95. I wonder if it would fit on top of the Arrow Slot chassis.

Probably. Just sit them down side by side and upside down and see if the wheel arches line up. That will give you an idea. Width can easily be adjusted, overall length likewise. It is the wheelbase the distance between the axles which ids more difficult. Don't cut anything up until you have done your research. No point in cutting up a $50 car when maybe there is a good enough chassis out there for less. But you have to factor in the cost or the motor,axles everything.
