Wow! What a trip so far! Dave and his fabulous family welcomed me like a long lost relative when I finally made my way through the infamous California traffic he warned me about...I'm still reeling from that lol!
After a great non-salad meal of lasagna and garlic bread, we retired to the veranda to begin the assault on his track and cars. First up - his track is first rate! Great lane spacing and size. It is fast and his painted surface hooks up unbelievably well for a track so new. I may have just decided to go with chalk board paint when I build my oval. He is able to control power to the individual lanes meaning the kids could run with us easily. I was last as always. The oval is smooth and fast and we spent a ton of time just running door to door and having a blast! Sadly, Dave didn't heed the advice here and left me on the lane inside of his so there were a few "accidental" nerfing incidents...
I think we ran just about everything he has and they were all awesome! His brass chassis work is very good and I enjoyed driving everything well past my abilities...which for those that know me have already guessed wasn't too hard... His jalopies were fantastic as were his midgets. We then beat on the stockers for quite some time and that turned into a dog fight!
We had a great time talking resins, tuning, kids, and about slots in general. Many lies were told, secrets spilled, and laughter was shared.
We here at HRW are spoiled. We have the best place to play and the best folks to do it with. I was again amazed to meet another amazing person in this hobby that means so much to me.
If I didn't have to work this week, I'd be in the car right now heading back to Dave's!
Thanks again to the Gourley's for being such great hosts!
Lastly, in thinking about this forum and our connections, I realized that due to HRW I've now raced in NJ, Fl (multiple places/times), MO, TN, MN, And now CA. Crazy little world!
I'll post some pics shortly.
