I like the look of the wheel/tire setup you're using. Here on Long Island we use Pro Track "Daytona" black foam rubber, typically starting with.910 or .880" rears and minimum .800" fronts. The fronts are of course coated with paint or nail polish and seldom need replacement. Using this set up, our cars ride low and it's always a challenge to pass the 1/16' clearance on the pre-race tech block! Performance of course is great, but the rears wear quickly, even if the "N" (natural rubber) type isn't used (it's driver preference).
After a few races the rears are usually worn down enough so they will no longer pass tech, and need to be replaced. The races on the largest track are well over two hundred laps each, plus practice running, so that's not too bad for tire life.
Are those tires you're using silicone? What size are they? It appears in the photos that the front and rear are the same.
"Vintage 1/24" is part of the local scene here and is providing us with 1/24 and 1/32 modified and super modified bodies as the market demands. We're running a Long Island Asphalt Modified Tour (1/24 cars) on three different short track ovals. They're all braided MDF four laners with turns approx. 5-7' radius and straights of 8' being the shortest, and 14' being the longest. Lap times on the largest track run in the low two second range, using the H&R 40,000 rpm blue motor @ about 12 volts with 48 pitch gears, ratio is driver's option.
So, there are quite a bit of these beautiful bodies being used in our various racing series. He does excellent work, I'm sure you agree!
Enjoy your new racers, and thanks in advance for answering my "spec" questions. HAPPY NEW YEAR! -- Ernie :>)
