Any HO Ovals or cars?

I'm building a 4 lane HO oval & am looking for any examples of HO ovals or cars. Stock cars/modifieds/sprints whatever. Can anyone point m eto a couple threads? I poked around a bit but didn't find much. Thanks.

HO scale is perfect for oval racing !

Not speaking of RRR racers, or resin bodies, in "factory" cars you can find a lot of modern nascar bodies, with real or fantasy sponsors, and even now, some Indycars openwheel cars.

Concerning vintage stock cars, you can also find Xtraction stockers (they released recently a track set containing this kind of cars).


On chassis side, there is room for everyone, from stock TJET to magnet modern racing. I believe there is no chassis without stocker bodies available.

Personaly, for my stocker racing class, for now I'm using old school Life-like bodies on old lighted tomy turbo chassis (slower than the regular tomy turbo). I plan to build a Xtraction racing class, based on the classic stockers Autoworld released recently too (I already have one).

RichD. Cool looking modifieds. Tell me more. What type of chassis & where did you get the bodies? Thanks.

Our Modified class uses Aurora Magnatraction or JL/AW X-Traction chassis with the ears cut off. Armatures are 14 ohms or more. JW's HO Speed Parts makes the front ends that I use. Most people use Resin Dude bodies, but one guy has done several scratch built bodies. Another member of the club is working on his own resin bodies.

What do you call "cut off ears" ? I like the stock Xtraction chassis, but I don't see what this part is ?

Here's the ears.



With the ears removed I reinforce the chassis by drilling holes in the chassis and inserting a staple as shown on the right hand chassis.

Thank you ! Sound really interesting. I'm thinking about modifying some HO cars for my 1/32 oval : this way I could race "real scale" stocker races on it.

I remember reading something about diecast nascar bodies on tyco 440x2 long wheel base chassis, with magnets removed. I even bought some to try it, once I will do this I'll give you feedback on this.


I can't help myself, HO scale is just MY favorite scale, even if I'm currently working on the 1/32 and let the HO track for later work.
