I became aware of the Chili Bowl after slot racing with some guys who race Midgets up here in the North East - I just didn't really know about it before that - or didn't understand it...
It really is the one of the best motorsports events - period.
There are even some YouTubes of past Chili Bowls - HRW Boarders should take a look if they are unfamiliar.
There are OVER 300 of the fastest midgets, and after a solid week of races, and an alphabet soup of lettered mains with the top cars ever advancing - it ends on Saturday Night with 'top-of-the-top' 24 cars racing in a single 55 lap A-Main - all raced on dirt - and all raced INDOORS - and not an empty seat in the house!
The action is insane and this year there were 61 flipped cars I think - the short wheelbase overpowered midgets are sliding, bicycling, pulling wheelies and occasionally spectacularly flipping end over end - and that is pretty much 'normal' racing for these guys.
There should be more oval track midget slot car racing!
