cooper climax re-pop

Postby btaylor » Sat Feb 07, 2015 7:19 am

One of my favorite vintage F1 cars, is the cooper climax. There where several different Liveries of this car, and it had a rich history of racing all over the world. I think my favorite version of this car was made by Triang in the early 60's. I acquired a fairly good example of this car last year, but it was a non running car with a good body, so I decided to cast this one so I could build all the known liveries using modern running gear. It came out nice! I cast the body with the driver figure to keep the original flavor of the Scaley car, but it can be cut out for a more detailed build. Anyone interested in building one of these, just give me a PM.
I will be casting wheel inserts, and making a buck for the Vac formed windscreen as well.

Thanks Bob, I knew there were already some of these available, I just thought it would make a fun inexpensive series we could have. I am sure the PP Version is much nicer!

That would be great! We have so many fun runs going right now, and in the immediate future, we might better wait a bit! But I think its a great idea. There were an awful lot of private entry liveries with these too, so there would be plenty of reference material ,or we could just do a Cooper tribute race, and do them up any way we wanted. we should give this some thought for sure.

I have a Munter Cooper T53 body like this, but it is open cockpit. I like the idea of the moulded in driver as there is not room in there to add any kind of interior. Even with a slim can, the top of the motor is nearly flush with the sill. It is still in the to-do drawer, after several attempts.

That is a nice looking livery Bob, lots of privateers ran them too.
I think Rob Walker racing may have had an entry in the traditional Walker / Scottish. Dk Blu.

ImageTrying a Little something different on this one. a web search showed some interesting variations on the climax, I thought I would incorporate a few of the things I liked to make my own version. No where near finished, but gaining ground.
